This place is great for the time you spend in the San Jose area. Just minutes away from the airport, minutes away for connecting to downtown San Jose by bus. The area is quiet and comfortable with local restaurants, soda and mini super.

Great budget option post/pre flight. Close to airport (around 2,500 colones in a taxi), avoiding the hellish traffic into San Jose. The manager, Randy, is so helpful and a lovely chap. Comfortable and clean, there’s a sitting room and garden to relax in, with wi-fi and an honesty drinks fridge; and you can leave your bags if you have a...

We stayed at Vida Tropical the first and last nights of our 12 day vacation. Its location is the perfect distance from the airport. What really makes the place is the staff! Randy went out of his way to help us. He arranged our rental car before we arrived and he gave us suggestions for our trip and the surrounding...

This was a quiet little sanctuary after a long day of travel. It's right near the airport, so it's convenient to get to. The staff is very fruendly and helpful, and the make a very nice breakfast. There are restaurants nearby that are within walking distance.

Very cozy B & B in Alajuela. The host Isabel is very friendly and helpful, she confirmed our rental car reservation. Sylvia makes a delicious breakfast and there is a bunny in the backyard. We enjoyed our overnight stay and are coming back in a week to spend another night before leaving Costa Rica

This is my second time staying here at Vida Tropical and I have no complaints. Isabel is very friendly and helpful and even arranged our car rental for us. It was delivered right to the door the morning after we arrived and we made payment right on the spot there. We stayed again on our return trip home and we...

I was not expecting a hostel-like environment, but was pleasantly surprised by the location of Vida Tropical. It is within walking distance (4 blocks) of shopping and restaurants, which served us well since we arrived after-dark to an unfamiliar city. (Highly recommended is Jalapeños Central for Tex-Mex.) Our room was large - a queen bed plus a twin-over-double bunk for...

“As should be expected, the rooms along the front street side are more subject to the motorcycle and car noise during the day and into the evening some. The Terrace room bed was fine for sleeping, but it's a Murphy bed and has a hard wooden edge all around it. I don't know if the other rooms are the same.”
