Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very unhelpful and incredibly rude lady at the front desk. She refused to call a taxi for me and asked me to stand on the street to hail one myself. When I asked if there is a number I could call by myself, she sighed and just gave me a nasty look. Very bad experience at the hotel. I would not recommend anyone going.

It could have been 4 star if not for the unfriendly and rude front desk people. Unfortunately, several of them not just 1 person. Location cannot be beat for the price. Rooms are dated and dark. Free wifi.

My daughter lives in the French Concession area and recommended this hotel. The huge and upmarket IAPM mall is across the road including a supermarket. A cheap food court is next door and so is the Metro station. The hotel can exchange your foreign money at an ok rate. Rooms are large and quiet. Great that there is a window to open. Only negative: Didnt like the smell of cigarettes when coming out of the lift on Level 5. Walking around the French Concesxion area is great. HIighly recommend this hotel.

I was in Shanghai on a working trip for 3 nights just last week. It is my second time staying at the hotel. I shall list the pros and cons of the hotel as follows: Pros: - Decent room size - generally well maintained and cleaned - I LOVE the heated bidet (like the ones you get everywhere in Japan) especially in winter - there is a humidifier in the room - although next the road, its not too noisy- and considering I leave my winder ajar to let in fresh air - convenient location to subway station, shopping area, supermarkets and F&B outlets of different price range. CONS: - Wifi is not stable - they only offer ONE free breakfast even when you have a double room. So you are forced to pay for the other breakfast if you want hotel breakfast - Its a small hotel with simple lobby but if you're there for work and not looking for grand reception area - its perfectly fine.

Checked in 19 October for 3 nights, I have stayed in this hotel since 2005. Mason is very inexpensive and is located in the "French Concession" I Paid EUR 70/night, breakfast included. The area is very exclusive with restaurants and shopping all over the place, the area is also an area where expats like to live. Quality/price is superb, rooms are clean, the receptions speaks English, breakfast is ok, Starbucks is in-house - the only draw back might be that there is a constant light smell of tobacco smell in the hotel.

There are many good and reputable taxi company they could recommend but they gave us the ‘red’ known to be the small company with notorious drivers. We did not know that time so we took it. We were led to believe that the highway to the airport is closed at night so we had to detour our route. Upon checking with an airport staff, there is no such thing as highway closure at night. We paid 415 yuan for a trip that typically cost 200yuan. Sidenote: Their bed made us itch everytime we sleep on it.

You can say this place is hidden gem as it tuck behind Starbucks, opposite metro exit and a stone away from one of the nice mall Booked a room for 4 nights, it says included Wifi, but turned out it Unstable, Weak and even after someone keep barging to my room to check the system box for two nights so far, it still dead - not working! Shockingly someone tried to tamper the safe box in my room as I can’t access the safe with my password the second night ! The shower drain take like ages to drain, so frustrating to wait it drain between rinsing Not recommended!!!

What you pay is what you get. Booked hotel due to its location; lots of shopping near the area. Shopping centre beside offers lots of variety of food. Metro lines is around the corner. Stayed in superior room, on level 4. During the night the streets was silent etc however maybe old pipes? Keep hearing constant knocks around the room, if you are a light sleeper bring earbuds. Even if you put do no disturb, house keeper will still come in to clean. Hotel is generally clean for a 3 star hotel, however there is some stains in the toliet and carpets etc Reception converse well in English, however during peak hour they will ask you to go out and hail the taxi yourself; my friend who was Radisson had to come pick me up. Used Didi app to the airport. Breakfast was mediocre save the money eat out. Rice was hard etc. Just eat out. I will definitely stay in mason hotel due to it location.

Staffs in reception are professional in my viewpoint. The room I stayed is clean, bed/pillows are all fine just the showeroom is a bit small as not much space for putting my travel kits. Location of the hotel is a big benefit. It is so close to underground(South Shaanxi Road Station), only 2 mins by walk. You can easily get any tourist spots by subway from here. There are two shopping malls near by, so it is convenient to grab some food / doing groceries in the mall. The area is peaceful beautiful, it is relaxing walking down the streets.
