Decent quality hotel, the room is fancy, maybe just freshly renovated not long ago. The noise insulation need some good attention, very loud and in the morning the slamming door is very annoying... Another thing is the staff, they seem to be more interested in serving European or foreign client rather than asian looking client? This is not good.

Discovered this hotel while walking to lunch from my office. Stayed for a couple of nights and was not disappointed. It is not on the caliber of the five stars, but for the proximate you (walking distance) it was great and the price was reasonable. There are a couple of coffee shops nearby (star bucks) and a McDonald's very very...

Stayed there for a night during our weekend trip to Shanghai from Nanjing. We chose this hotel because of it's easy accessibility and good location for it's price. Rooms are nice and spacious, the place gives what you might expect of a good night sleep. Breakfast is poor.

The room was beautiful, but tiny. The bathroom is integrated into the hall. The glass door makes the toilet visible at all times (not very romantic...). The location is good as it has several options for shopping and eating nearby.

Sitting on Hauihai Road this hotel is located in a very good spot, very close to multiple subway stations, shopping areas (iapm is only short walk away). The rooms are clean, recently renovated and very white. Only downside was that the heating / AC is centralised and when we were there they turned on the heater. I guess Shanghai people...

Located on busy Huaihai Middle road, about 5 minutes walk from the subway station, this is one of the best medium-priced hotels I've ever stayed at in China! All the rooms are newly renovated since the end of 2015, so all the room furniture was brand new and comfy, and my washroom was so large and spacious, I even drew...

I stayed here for one night last week when I knew I'd be in town too late to be able to make the train back home to Jiangsu. I wasn't expecting much, just a typical 3 star lodging, centrally located. The standard rooms were all sold out so I booked the "Business Queen Room" and it was immense, way more...

I stayed at Jinchen Hotel due to the fact it is conveniently located, close to Metro, shopping areas, public transport and restaurants and bars. HOTEL This is a 3 Star hotel so do not complaint, and do not expect facilities of a 5 Star hotel. ROOM My standard room was so tiny, about 20sqm or less. Bed was clean and...

I have stayed in this hotel each time I come to Shanghai - about 4 times per year - for the last 4 years. The rooms are generally reasonably clean although some need to be redecorated. Best rooms are on the 7th (top) floor - no smoking rooms. Free wifi available. Breakfast buffet quite good. The location is top! Close...

Staying in Former French Concession

Neighbourhood Profile
Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French Concession" of today is an amorphous neighborhood that is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet, tree-lined avenues, French-style villas, interesting boutiques, lively bars and quaint cafes that are not typical of China. All of these mix and mingle with local life as Chinese markets and lanehouse communities are peppered throughout. Denizens of the Former French Concession can spectate a mahjong game on the street or get their bike checked at a tiny bike repair store on the way to their refurbished apartment tucked away among Chinese family homes.
