Had an wonderful staycation during the China National holiday with the MO Pudong Shanghai. It was definitely a great and pleasant experience. I booked myself their 8th Anniversary Package that include a night in their Executive Suite with Club benefits and a 60-min Spa inclusive too. Service were pleasant once I entered the hotel. It was quite busy at the front but due to my booking include club , I was immediately being brought to the MO Club to check-in. I was checked-in by a service leader named Kidd, he is a well-mannered and polite as well as an knowledgeable service personnel. He made me felt comfortable and the touch of a luxury hotel should have. I got an corner Executive Suite with 180degree view of Huangpu River, stunning view but felt the suite interior was a little tired. As the package include a 60-min, I finally had a relax and de-stressing time. The Spa was great and mine was done by a male masseuse. I have regretted I should add on and do a little longer. MO Spa have its name well-achieved. Talking about the club benefits, as a luxury hotel, i personally felt the variety of food for evening cocktail should have more choices and add-in a few items of a-la carte like Grand Hyatt HongKong. As for the club breakfast, can do slightly more too. I had enjoyed a good club breakfast at MO Taipei. Overall it was still an wonderful and nice stay. During my check-out, it was also done by Kidd. With his service, he is definitely an asset to the company. Regards William

I spent the 7 days community health-monitoring period at this wonderful place and loved it so much. Cecilia and her Mandarin Oriental Club team made this stay unforgettable and were so helpful in helping me to organise all the necessary things after getting out of quarantine. The suite was certainly large and from time to time I almost got lost. But the view out of the window, the long walks along Huangpu River in the early morning and the proximity to the Bund are making this hotel truly unique. I just love it!

.....staying in any other hotel in Shanghai is the clearest. The MO Shanghai lives up to the MO brand in every way. Service. Quality. Subtlety. Serenity. The rooms are well appointed and whilst you are a little furhter along the river from the crowded centre of Luijiajui, the location, for me is idyllic. You have direct access to the Bund cycle track and running track plus are handily close to all of the river side restaurants, plus more importantly the ferry across the Huangpu. At night the skyline is spectacular with some rooms directly facing the Pearl Tower with other looking downriver towards the Yangpu Bridge. DONT for one minute believe the nonesense that the hotel is in the wrong place - it is absolutely in the right place for a restful stay. The hotel also offers guests use of the shuttle for free within a 2km radius of the hotel and so getting anywhere is easy. Rooms are MO rooms. Period. If you have never stayed in an MO before you will have the best sleep. Normally I do not sleep well in hotels, but got 10 hours straight each night in MO Pudong. For the worlds second largest city the hotel is well insulated for noise. The recreational facilities are world class. The gym is equiped with all the best machines, including (I am a rower) a brand new Concept 2 and PM5 computer. There are ample running machines, cardio eqiupment and resistance training plus excellent studio for classes. Private lessons are not marked up at all, and a one hour private yoga session, which my wife looked at, is exactly the same price as a normal studio in Shanghai. The pool is just perfect - 25m in length with a cordoned off lap lane. There are plenty of flotation aids for kids and adults and for the serious swimmer, paddles for training. The lifeguards to an excellent job of keeping the floor dry to prevents slips (something not all hotels have the attentiveness to do). The changing rooms (male at least) have full spa facilities with a phenomenal steam and sauna room, plus for anyone that has stayed at the MO in HK, Landmark or original, the arctic mist and tropical rain showers they also have. My favorite is the thermal reclining chairs to relax after exercise. Lots of space and pristinely clean. Restaurant service is great - again as you would expect, and desptie the CoVID restrictions, all the Club Lounge service, Fifty 8 (the steak house) and the buffet breakfast / dinner outlets worked as normal. Certainly my favorite buffet breakfast in Shanghai - and for the kids, fresh icecreams and sorbets on demand! Anyone who has read my prior reviews knows I am an MO fan, but not blindly so. In this case, there really was nothing to comment negatively on. Generally a brilliantly run property with great attention to detail. For reference I have staying in all the Hyatt properties in Shangha, the IFC, Four Seasons (pre Regent); the St Regis. This property beats all of them. St Regis being a close second. In terms of people - there are several call outs for exception above and beyond service. Firstly in the Club Lounge, Cecilia the club lounge manager, works extremely hard and knows what you need before you do (the key MO USP). Not surprisingly as she has 5 years in the MO SH and prior to that was concierge at the Ritz. Nothing was too much for Cecilia and we are extremely grateful for all her help, dedication and kindness during our stay. Next, Rachel in the restaurant Fifty 8. I have eaten in Fifty 8 on three separate ocassions now and every time the food prepared by Chef Brenda (another incredible artist) was sublime. I actually asked if I needed to pre order the Tomahawk, (Cecilia wasn't in the club lounge) and so Rachel came up from the restaurant, during her break to take our order and ensure everything was well prepared for our dinner. Brilliant service. Also......Rachel is a keen skier and can tell you all about her time skiing whilst living in Denver colarado. Kevin, the F&B manager also deserves special mention. We are very boring guests and like to talk to the staff. I am afraid we kept Kevin late one evening chatting with him and he was far too polite to tell us he needed to leave. Kevin runs a tight ship and was all over the service in the F&B. Brenda - your food is excellent. The Cote de Beouf you prepared was perfect and the pairing of the different crystal salts smart. I also was delighted by your art pairing menu - which I recommend to anyone staying or visiting Shanghai. Genius on a plate and remarkably reasonalbe. A six course set menu for the price of one course in Gordon Ramsey At the top of the tree - GM Martin Cramer, who for disclosure sake, I have made special effort to get to know well, has pulled the team together admirably. The hotel runs like clockwork. Nothing is too much trouble and more over it shows great intelligence and trust to allow the team to do what they do best with their creativity. I could go on but, as I said at the start, if you are keen to prove, or even rescue your sanity, stay / eat / rest and play at the MO SH. You will not regret it.

Oh my God. I only stayed 1 night! The service! The people! The smell! The decor! The room! The comfort! The reception! The turn down service! The beauty! The view! The doorman! The lobby! The breakfast! The bed! The tub! The tub! The tub! The shower! The bathroom! The sitting area! I love this hotel! I am a luxury hotel lover...whenever i feel a bit out of it, I will book into a different hotel in Shanghai and I have loved them all. But Mandarin Oriental, you have won me over...I don't think I have the capacity to visit other hotels. If I didn't have to go back to work I would've extended my stay. I'm already planning my next staycation at my new home away from home. I didn't even get to go to the pool but the tub felt like my own personal pool. I have told everyone I know about this hotel, shared it on Instagram as well, this hotel has everyone saying yes! This is the one. By the way, once someone asks what is your name, they never forget it, they always address me by name and are so kind. I was overwhelmed by how happy I felt while there. Everyone spoke English! Even the lady who did turndown....I've never experienced such a thorough turn down service in all my hotel experiences. Did I say I love this place? Thank you Mandarin Oriental. You will see me again very very soon. Zoe at front desk...you are a treasure. Ken/Kevin (I'm sorry i forgot) the doorman, such a pleasant young man.
