Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Late posting, my stay was during December 2018. I’ve always wanted to stay in this hotel, and have heard so much about them. I booked my stay thru Ctrip. I arrived in the afternoon, and the taxi will pull up in front of the hotel (one way road). Do ask the door staff to help if you have a lot of baggage, but I did not. The lobby is a few steps from the ground level, such a classic feeling and fun. Look out for touts in front of the hotel at night, they usually ask if you’d need massage service, so please don’t fall for it. The reception was nice and upgraded my room to a corner room which is slight larger, but a fantastic view overlooking the Renmin Square gardens. The room was so spacious, well lit, everything working well, super clean and well maintained. The bathroom offers all the amenities that you would need and complimentary water is provided daily. The bath offers a standing shower option, and I’m amazed that it even comes with the Japanese style bidet for the WC. Overall, a wonderful stay and I would love to come back anytime.

Since 2016, I have stay park hotel for several times. The park hotel has a good location and histrionic building. Good Beijing style cuisine. However, bath drain slowly. Must pay attention a sharp glass angle that was covered furniture. Must keep your eyes open for unsolicited dynamic currency conversion payment’s processor while check-out, despite Visa and Master Card allow that cardholder can select whether the transaction is to be processed in the local currency or DCC. After I raised DCC issue, the hotel hires a lawyer to deny all issues, and is saying, “ I required to be processed transaction in the DCC”.

This s a historic hotel no doubt but one can not rest on the laurels. The stars are totally for location, such is the location. Rooms are small, facing the side wall of next building. Food is aweful and plonked in front of you, not served. Taste less as well as looks unappetizing. Extremely rude, unsmiling staff. Probably not use to foreigners. Bare minimum English. Best thing is location being right in middle of people s square, on Nanjing Road near so many malls.

Everything in this hotel makes it an ideal starting point for visiting Shanghai. It's close to the subway, to the pedestrian shopping area, and you can walk to the Bund in a lively and pleasant environment during the day and also in the evening. Breakfast is sumptuous and the value for money is quite exceptional. Highly recommended.

Some mixed reviews on this hotel but ignore them! Get on metro line #2 - exit people square and look for #9 The hotel is right outside! The location cannot be any more convenient to access a central line. Now for breakfast turn left when walking outside the hotel and voila! STARBUCKS ok the reception - no issues! Pleasant - they give you your wifi code and your good to go. I got room 910 which has a nice king bed, shower and bath! I was amazed with the toilet actually... heated seat! The hotel is a 1920 building which makes the stay even more special. All in all, you will not be disappointed.

Hotel rooms and equipment seems to be old fashioned. Nevertheless rooms are ok as soon as you don't expect luxury environment. Hotel staff at counter was not very friendly. Rest of the staff people were fiendly. A positive aspect is that Hotel is close to people square and city center. Price is acceptable.

The building is really cool, dating back from 1930 and the highest in Asia in 1958. The rooms are large and okay, normal four star quality. The reception and the service is also good, altogether this is a nice hotel experience if you are interested in history. Location is perfect.

The Park Hotel began life as saving bank and was the tallest building in Asia until 1958. Designed by the brilliant architect Laszlo Hudec in the 1930s it is in the art deco style and one of my favourite buildings in Shanghai.
