What a great location-would stay again. Get up early and go see the people in the Main Street excersing every day. The breakfast is filling and the shops around are great -there is a 7/11 around the corner and great massage place on next . Ask for a city view .

The hotel's location is great: located near the Bund and the main walking street of the city. It takes less than 10mins walking to the Bund - one of the most highlighted spot in Shanghai. The service is good and breakfast is perfect. It's a bit expensive, but you pay for what you get :)

Spent a week here when visiting friends and family in Shanghai. Booked it based on previous reviews and hoped for the best. We certainly were not disappointed. Perfect location for the Bund, Peoples Park and the Pedestrian Street. Just a short walk to the underground station too. Clean well appointed hotel with friendly staff. Usual firm Chinese beds but comfortable....

The hotel is conveniently located in the center. Many shops around and big streets to walk. Room was nice and comfortable. Great view to the street. The breakfast was very good and could satisfy European and Chinese preferences. Kind and helpful people at the reception and the breakfast room. An ATM is place near the reception and you could change...

Visited Shanghai for a couple of days with my family and from the front desk hotel staff to the housekeeping staff, everyone was very nice, courteous, and accommodating. Our other option was Grand mercure hotel but I'm very glad we went with Central for its prime location right next to Nanjing Road. And just tonight, they left a birthday cake...

Travelled 2 adults and a child age 10 with extra bed. USD150 w/o breakfast. Pros 1. Location was excellent. Right in the middle of east Nanjing Rd. In between East Nanjing metro Stn and People's Square Station. 1km walk to the Bund. 2. Good value. Clean, decently sized room and hotel staff was helpful. 3. Spa, sauna and gym opens...

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
