I would describe this hotel as 'comfortable'. It's nothing spectacular, the room and bathroom are well sized and clean. But the decor is a bit old fashioned. The staff I dealt with were all very polite and vast majority English speaking. Easy access to most points of the city but its on the opposite end to the Bund which is...

I was upgraded which was nice. I only stayed 1 night, arrived at 11pm and left at 630am so I didn't really experience the hotel. The lobby has a bar in the middle and the front desk is to the right side. Staff were courteous. But my short stay wasn't what I had expected. The aircon the whole evening was...

This is the first time in this hotel. Usually I go to the Pulli but it was fully booked. I am not impressed by the hotel. It looks old and a little outdated. The lounge breakfast is just average. When I checked in, despite I am paying for a full night and I arrived at 8 am, they told me...

The location is great for when I am in town working; however, over the past few years the cost has gone up while the customer service has really gone down. Rooms are showing wear & tear. The Portman plaza where it is located is extremely busy. The restaurants used to be convienient now they are over crowded and over priced.

Exellent hotel, service was top notch and the breakfast buffet had a wide selection with food for every taste. Several restaurants just outside the lobby with western cuisine, including a Starbucks. Very good location in a high-end shopping district with lots of opportunity to blow big bucks on Gucci, Rolex, etc. We did a lot of window shopping but that...

Like may hotels near to boutique shopping districts, the Portman Ritz-Carlton is high-end, comfortable, and the service is excellent. The staff will go out of their way to make things happen if you ask nicely. I certainly had a pleasant stay while here on business, but it's not personally my kind of hotel, preferring something more eclectic.

Stayed here for two nights while on business. I have stayed here years before with family while on a vacation. In both cases the hotel and its staff were top tier. Get a room above 15 so that you can enjoy the view of Shanghai. Location to shopping is ideal if that is important to you. Room amenities are excellent...

We stayed at this hotel as part of a Viking River Cruise Tour. Our room was lovely. I would have liked to transport the bathroom to my house. The staff is very solicitous everywhere you go. We had breakfast at Tables with a buffet that had a varienty of food both Western and Chinese. Outside the front door and to...

As usual once I've to choose a location in Shanghai, the "Potama" is the choiche. A nice luxury accomodation, an incredible fine service, only incredible rooms and all what's needed available. Not secondary the position in Shanghai Nanjing Lu is the final completion for. A must, absolutely.

Staying in Jing'an

Neighbourhood Profile
Jing'an
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
