This is western style hotel in a perfect location. Shopping pedestrian areas, museums, concert hall and Bund riverfront are all at walking distance. Rooms are average size but with nice bathrooms. Both wi-fi and wired internet connection available (the latter is not complimentary). Be careful about the mineral water bottles in your room: some of them are complimentary, some are...

Our family of 6 stayed here for 4 nights (with a trip to Hangzhou in between) during a recent visit to China. The hotel is a quick 10 minute walk to the Bund, and about 15 minutes to the Nanjing pedestrian street. The rooms are spacious with a separate sleeping area/living area including a nice desk, a little sofa and...

Was put in the Westin Shanghai Bund Center for a conference. It is exactly what it claims: a terrific five-star business hotel (that is so well set-up that it could also be a five-star romantic getaway). Superlatives in every category. The bathroom could have comfortably housed a family of five. Particularly loved the old-style bath tub on feet -- raised...

Having travelled extensively and experienced hotel in many countries, Westin on the Bund in Shanghai is such a pleasant experience when compared to many other hotels. The rooms, especially the Heavenly bed is so comfortable. The Bathrobes are simply wonderful. Food is great and most importantly the people are awesome Nothing is difficult and anything is possible. Stayed here as part of a Viking River Cruise. Our group was placed in the Execurtive Tower. The rooms are outstanding. Bathroom is very large with a separate bathtub and shower. Complimentary bottled water and an orange were nice touches. For some reason they don't leave enough towels, but they are delivered quickly when asked. Be careful with the light...

I stayed at this hotel for 13 nights and interestingly not once did anyone call me by name which i found most unusual for hotels in Asia. Despite visiting the club lounge at least twice a day during my stay the only person to recognise me was a training intern who was working at the hotel for 3 months. Sara...

The Westin is conveniently located within walking distance to the Bund, the Yu Garden and Chenghuang Temple (around 15-20 min), and the Nanjing Road shopping district (10-15 min). Although it was built 10 years ago and shows some age in terms of its conditions, it has remained one landmark building along the Bund and can be easily identified from distance....

Not too far from the heart of the Bund. The rooms were comfortable - everything was exactly what you'd expect from a Westin. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and fresh. The bar was relaxing although over AC'd in the 95 degree temp outside.

From the car that met me at the airport to the room upgrade, my arrival experience was excellent. The suite was beautifully done - lots of marble with tiger eye maple paneling, rain forest shower head, enough counter space for my things and the Heavenly bed. Breakfast was included and was Western/Asian buffet with the chef cooking omelets. Sliced bananas...

I've been living in China for the past 10 years, and travel a lot. As such, I am not especially fond of living in hotels, no matter how nice they happen to be. However, during the past of the course two weeks, I've been impressed enough my 2 properties to return to this website (in addition to the Westin, I...

Staying in The Bund

Neighbourhood Profile
The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai International Settlement run by the British and Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has endured over time and is now found in the five-star hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive restaurants that can be found within the historic buildings. A cultural center has built up away from the water and some of Shanghai’s best art galleries and museums are housed close to the Bund. Nighttime views of Pudong and the rest of the city also make for a great backdrop at the many rooftop clubs.
