I stayed in a refurbished room. It was spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom has a very modern style and it was very clean. There is also a swimming pool and a fitness center there. The breakfast is included and offers a good combination of western and asian types of breakfasts. The restaurant also offers a great view of Shanghai....

If you are visiting Shanghai this is the best place to stay. Hotel was great and very friendly in approach. The guys have got some breath taking views in most rooms and have a decent breakfast for customers. You can even hire a cycle and go around town. Just awesome!

Nice hotel but not really qualifies for 4 stars! Breakfast bouffee offers a wide range of mostly Chinese food but the popular dishes are soon finished and new plates are not always served. One hour before closing time most plates were empty :-( The wifi is free but doesn't work very well - no password needed - very unsecure! Stuff...

We stayed there for 3 days about two weeks ago. 3-5 minutes walk from the bund which was great. 10-15 minutes walk from nearest metro station which was a bit long for every day walk. The rooms were really clean. Our roomS does not have view to the harbour but to the street and I knew that before. The view to...

Water front of the city lines with bars, restaurants on one side and the financial centre of the other. A nice stroll gives a view of all the high rise buildings of the city centre. It's lined with shopping malls and the amazing high street is a 5 mins away. Looked like the heart of the city.

I have choosen this hotel for the practical location in the bund, but I was nicely suprise by the view on Pudong. The hotel is not quite modern but ok for the price. Breakfast is not very good and staff lake english skills. But overall opinion is positif.

This hotel is in a great position just off of the river Bund near the garden bridge. Checking in was good. Good English spoken. The room was a fair size facing away from the bund. The hand-wash has a sticker on it saying NOT GIFT. This is classed as a 5 star hotel so they shouldn't expect people to steal...

The breakfast was nice and had variety. We stayed two nights at the hotel and the part that we appreciated the less was the fact that we needed to walk between 15 to 20minutes to nanjing rd station with lots of luggage. The staff could speak english...which was good!

Staying in Hongkou

Neighbourhood Profile
Hongkou
History oozes out of every fiber of the city, but Hongkou is a particularly notable neighborhood. Shanghai was a safe haven for about 20,000 Jews during the Second World War, and traces of this heritage can still be found in buildings and park monuments. Historic foreign relations aside, this neighborhood throws you into traditional Shanghainese life without taking you too far away from the city center. Some of the city’s best-preserved, ancient longtangs (laneway communities) and shikumen (Shanghainese lanehouses) are still in use as actual residences here. If you like to be surrounded by local faces, Hongkou is a great area to spend your time in. The football stadium, Duolun Lu and the North Bund area await should you need some entertainment.
