The inquiry office were very helpful to answer my questions before arrival. They informed me that it was possible check-in earlier in case I arrived early. I was happy to find staff that were able to assist and communicate in English. The a la carte menu in the room makes it easy to order food or drinks that can be delivered in the course of 24 hours of the day. The amenities such as gym, sauna, swimming pool, and steam-bath are available until 11 pm each day. This provides flexible hours for those who need to exercise and keep fit regularly. I needed to extend my stay for a few more days and the process was seamless. Thanks to the front desk staff who were able to answer my questions and communicate in English. The location is great and one is able to walk to the Bund and explore areas near People's square while strolling around. The room service staff do an excellent job ensuring the room is kept immaculately clean.

The first positive recognition is that all hotel stuff members are friendly and customer orientated. It was a nice 4 days stay and I would come again. Lounge was nice and open. Great team and happy to come back soon.

Booked a club room. Upgraded to club corner room due to my Bonvoy Gold status. The upgrade is significantly larger in space and with Bund views. Club benefits are still generous. A more intimate breakfast experience (7-10am) with better service, tea (skippable, 2-5pm) and then the most generous cocktail hour in Shanghai (hot entrees 5:30 to 7:30pm then drinks till 9:30pm) Most facilities have reopened. The gym is spacious with lots of room for socially distanced workouts. The 25M pool only has 3 lengths. Co-ed jacuzzi next to pool closed due to COVID restrictions. Only letdown is the breakfast selection at the main restaurant on the 3F. Most dishes did not change over a week - only slight variations in the Chinese noodle bar. However, with its central location, you have plenty of food options in the People's Square and Nanjing Dong Lu just minutes away.

We loved the hotel. The food was great, the room was incredible, the location is perfect and the staff were very friendly. Our main issue was with the crib provided for our 2 month old. The crib is from a well-known brand that comes with an infant insert, but the hotel was unable to find the insert so we had to choose between our son sleeping in the crib with a loose non-fitted sheet (not recommended) or in the bed. The manager mentioned that the cribs they have are 10 years old and none of them have the insert. We have stayed in other, lower category Marriott properties in Shanghai that all had it, so it was a bit disappointing. We also received no recognition of our elite (Platinum) status at the check-in.

This Marriott has an exceptionally good location within Shanghai. Right in the middle of the action with easy access to metro and taxis, shopping, and the Bund. Breakfast was good with a handful of options but not exceptional. Staff were courteous and helpful with requests (extra water, advice on transport times, etc). English was relatively well-spoken and understood by customer-facing staff. Like other Marriotts', rooms were typical of a 4.5 star hotel, largely business-oriented with a nice bathroom, sizable study desk, and perfectly comfortable bed. There are many good hotels in Shanghai, with location and price really being my deciding factors. I would recommend this hotel based on its location for anybody who wishes to be right by People's Square & Nanjing Rd.
