Great hotel. Had a car pick me up from the airport. When we arrived at the hotel had someone waiting for me to check me in - they took me straight to my room for check in even though it was only 8am. After an overnight flight from New Zealand this was very appreciated. Overall a lovely hotel. As others...

Dear Ntetrault, Thank you for staying at our hotel and for sharing a review with the TripAdvisor community. Booking a limousine transfer through the hotel is certainly the most convenient option when going from airport to hotel. An airport representative will pick you up after you collected your luggage and will escort you right away to the car bypassing the...

We've typically stayed at the JW Marriott but decided to try this property since it's in the same area and is a newer property. Today is day 4 of our stay and I'm not sure they have made me a return visitor yet. Don't get me wrong the hotel is nice. We were given a complimentary upgrade with our status...

Dear Vivian L, Thank you for reaching out to us through the TripAdvisor website and I am glad that Michael, our Front Office Manager, was able to catch up with you while you were still in the hotel. Marriott City Centre is a great choice when staying at Shanghai. The room and the bathroom were very spacious and of modern design. The electrical outlet already had built-in adapters + the hotel provided additional power adapters, so you will not have any difficulty plugging in. There are 3 separate subway lines available at the People's Square station, including the...

The good: Nice pool, view and location. The bad: understaffed, crowded executive lounge. Quantity before quality, non-smoking room with smoke smell, robotic service. There are far better hotels in Shanghai. Standard waiting time for the elevators is 5 min

Dear Majtin, Thank you for staying with us and for reaching out to me through the TripAdvisor website. I understand your disappointment with the elevators which is mainly related to an unusual large meeting group in the hotel the past few days. The meeting participants were on the exact same time schedule for breakfast, start of the meeting and breaks....

Dear QFGA, Thank you for taking the time to post a review and for rating us with full marks. My personal favorite walk is over Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street all the way to The Bund which takes about 20 to 30 minutes. Several variations along Suzhou Creek or one of the parallel smaller alleys are highly interesting as well. Thank...

A very slow check in but that was due to a guest asking a million questions so i ended up just going up to the Executive floor after waiting for 15 mins. A bit disappointed withe the room upgrade as it was really small but not a deal breaker. Great buffet and over indulged again. Will be back next month.

The location is very convenient, sitting in the center of Shanghai. The room is spacious. The lougue is quite big compared with others. A lot of drinks and wines. However, there not too much foods, only snacks.

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
