I spent a few days in Shanghai for business and stayed at this hotel after reading reviews. The location for me was great and I was impressed by the cleanliness of the hotel and the efficient staff. The room was spotless, very functional and quiet. I had breakfast and one lunch at the hotel and the quality of the food...

Overall, this is a very average hotel for short stay but works if it's a business hotel but definitely not a place to stay if you are in shanghai for vacation as it's far from everything else. Pros : It's a no frill business hotel. Dont expect too much but it will just be enough to have all the basic...

I currently prefer staying at this hotel when I am in Shanghai because of its very good club lounge and nice fitness center. The suites are very comfortable and good for long term stays. The personnel is very professional and always extremely friendly. Mrs Ritz from the Club Lounge has an exceptional personality and always goes the extra mile to...

I stayed for 1 week in Nov 2012. Some highlights : very nice pool and fitness center. Very helpful concierge (arranged taxis efficiently ; did excellent job of arranging tours). Lobby staff all had good English. - Club floor was well stocked. This hotel is convenient for Metro City area shopping and restaurants and only 100m from the subway entrance.

Stayed for thee weeks at this hotel whilst on business in China recently. Had no problems with front of staff or bar staff speaking English. Happy hour every night finishes at 2000 when a pint of Heineken reverts back to around 80 rmb, bogof for three hours prior.Good size rooms and kingsize bed.Lovely pool and gym facilities, excellent laundry service....

I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights during our conference. Some of the highlights of my stay are mentioned below Communication: Very few people in the entire hotel barring the front-desk staff, floor manager at the restaurant can speak in English. This causes a big problem in getting what you want. Rooms: The rooms are well appointed with a...

I stayed at this hotel often when on business trips to Shanghai. This is not my favorite hotel in Shanghai, but it is on the company’s prefer list and most importantly across the street from the company shuttle. Everything worked fine for a business traveler, fast and reliable internet connection, big desk, friendly service, comfy bed, clean room, good gym/swimming...

Great staff. Good food. Good breakfast buffet. Easy access to our office and shopping. Very modern rooms. Quiet and nicely decorated. On Thursday there is a happy hour that some of the locals attend before they go out (real parties start after 10 I heard). I watched while 3 couples rode off on 3 bicycles to their next stop. Don't...

I have stayed at this Marriott several times and have found it an excellent place to stay. Their breakfast is excellent, with a wide range of food choices and fresh squeezed juice every day. We also used the Exec center for happy hour and it was a great way to wind down the day. I'm from the US and nearly...

Staying in Gubei / Hongqiao / Minhang

Neighbourhood Profile
Gubei / Hongqiao / Minhang
West of Shanghai’s better-known business, cultural and entertainment centers, lies an expansive area of residential neighborhoods peppered with lifestyle pockets that have their own unique attractions. The schools have formed pockets of international communities throughout Gubei, Hongqiao and Minhang. Quite a few entertainment and shopping centers have built up over the years to cater to these communities. While living here means you are relatively far away from Shanghai’s usual hot spots, the large parks, spacious homes and proximity to great Japanese and Korean food keep the neighborhoods popular.
