I stayed at Maqai for 5 days and it was one of the most magical experiences of my life! It is so beautiful and peaceful and I really felt like I was living on a deserted paradise. The staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly. The owner was very kind and I felt totally taken care of. The food is delicious...

I loved staying at Maqai! I stayed for 10 nights and felt like I was part of the Maqai family by the time I left. Jeff, the manager, was very warm and entertaining, with many engaging stories. The food, by head chef Lucy and sous chef Mba, was incredible--for the most part, they cooked Western food, but my favorite dishes...

Had a great time at Maqai. Loved that there is limited people allowed to stay made it feel like a real home away from home. Even though thw conditions weren't good for surfing every day they made sure we still had options to do other activities explore the ialand and have a freshly cooked fish on a white sandy beach....

I visited not long after cyclone Winston hit and was the only visitor at this time as they had suffered some damage. They were rebuilding the resort. The staff are local Fijians from a nearby village, very honest and kind and from what I understand are paid fairly. They went out of their way to look after me for my...

I use to visit Maqai all the time when one of the old share holders was running the place, A Mr. Hatherly. So this review is truly years overdue, but from memory Maqai is a beautiful property, with the friendliest staff who Ive made life time friends with and still keep in touch. Most of the workers are from nearby...

To describe the Maquai Eco Resort as heaven on earth isn’t much of an exaggeration, so long as you’re not the kind of person who’s prone to first-world problems. The resort is particularly popular with the surfing crowd, but has plenty to offer non-surfers as well. Our non-surfing family of three, including a four year-old child, spent a marvelous six...

Maqai Eco Surf Resort is a great mid-range place to hang out. Costs are more than backpacker hostels but far less than other Taveuni upscale resorts. The beach-front bures are kept very clean, and the beds were quite comfortable. Visitors not used to South Pacific summer heat & humidity might find the bures a bit on the warm side at...
