First overseas trip after 2 years of (still on-going) Covid madness and I must say, this hotel is a lovely start. Located in the city center, it’s within walking distance of Jonker street but it’s compound offered a quiet sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The front of the hotel is restored from an old Peranakan residence. The room is spacious and beautifully furnished, with a four post bed, lounge chaise and bathtub. Fair warning though, the bathroom/toilet is cordoned off with folding doors with slats, so it may just be a tad uncomfortable if you’re bunking with platonic friends/parents/anyone who takes a dump, loudly. Otherwise, the room is pretty lovely! Now, the reason why I can’t rate this beautiful hotel with more stars: 1. There’s really nothing much to watch on TV. I know, I’m not supposed to watch TV while traveling, but mindless background noise is still welcomed when applying my skincare and winding down at night. The hotel only offers local channels, which are mainly in Malay and Mandarin, no CNN, BBC, or even CNA, or movies. So manage expectations on in-room entertainment. 2. Given the lack of external entertainment, we turned to self made entertainment to pass the night. Unfortunately, the room walls are quite thin - we could hear the TV from the next room, which made us self conscious that they could hear us. So we turned up our TV volume but still held back on vocally expressing ourselves…freely. Which then led me to think, are the pple in the next room doing the same to drown out their…interaction too?? Anyway, I digress. 3. The topic of in-room entertainment endures in the form of water pipes. For some unknown reason, the water pipes make this really loud lurch/groan when turned on, which sounded startlingly similar to sound effects heard in horror movies. After the initial shock, it became hilariously funny during shower time, so I guess it makes up for the dearth of in-room entertainment. Outside of the room, breakfast is served on the second floor of the Peranakan front building. While offering a small spread, eggs are made on order, there’s a wide selection of fruits/vegetable, and service is friendly and attentive befitting of a boutique hotel of its price range.

We stayed for one night at the Majestic. Love the architecture and decor of the main building. We were assigned a deluxe room on level 3 of the hotel although we did stated in our booking request for a higher floor room. Nevertheless, our room was quiet and peaceful and we did not hear any traffic noise or noise from above in spite of the relatively low floor. Overall, the room is nice and spacious, although there were some minor signs of wear and tear at the shower stall and some of the air vents. Location wise, the Majestic is about 15 mins walk from Jonker Street and the historical sites of Malacca. Personally, I prefer its location to a location right on Jonker Street as it would be too busy over at Jonker Street area. Breakfast is ala carte style except for the mini salad and cereal buffet. We enjoyed our stay at the Majestic and would recommend it to anyone visiting Malacca and looking for a quiet and quaint hotel that is filled Peranakan design touches.

Booked a night stay at the majestic malacca and was utterly disappointed. Paid RM600+ a night for 2 rooms. Carpet at the corridor was dirty, torn and disintegrating. One room had holes in curtain, bed linen yellowish and tv remote not working. The other room shower handle and door handle was falling off. Should not be part of the Small Luxury Hotel (SHL) group.

Hello. I checked in at Majestic Malacca Hotel today, 27th March 2022. I have been treated very badly with one of your staff that came to me in front of other guests at the swimming pool. I understand that the swimming pool need to be pre book, and i did booked the slot at 4-5pm and after the session end at 5pm i checked again with the front desk what time is available for next booking. And the front desk staff told me that the free slot is only available at 7-8pm. I have went back up to my room at and come down again at 7.20pm and there is another guest at that time. I didnt know what is the swimming pool policy because no one has explained to me that only 1 room can swim at 1 time. And suddenly at 7.30pm there is a staff coming up to me and asking me what is my booking time. I said its 7-8pm and he kept on insisting that i did not have that slot booked. Its very rude keep insisting that i have the wrong slot in fromt of other guests. He should have requested nicely to confirm with the front desk. And if its the problem with the front desk he shouldnt make the guest felt wrong and looks like we are stupid that we didnt book our slot. I am very dissapointed with your front desk and your customer service attitude. I have visited so many hotels in Malacca, even the better rank hotels in Malaysia but never encounter this kind of experience. So this is my last time coming to Majestic Malacca and surely i wont recommend this place to all my friends and family.

The Majestic Malacca has perhaps one of the most beautiful and elegant room in this historical city. I'll let the photos speak for themselves. To top that off, one of the best things about the hotel is that it offers a complimentary historical walk for its hotel guest, as organized by the hotel's own historian, Pn. Wati. Having experienced the walk by myself, I can say that the historical walk is definitely not to be missed. In this historical walk, Pn. Wati, the knowledgeable and welcoming historian, takes us to a scroll from the oldtown of Malacca to the famed Unesco heritage site, while sharing wonderful (and some, remain living) stories of this beautiful city and its people. It was truly a majestic experience that we will never forget.
