Very nice facility, overlooking Guntersville Lake. Has a marina, and there are many great restaurants nearby. The staff was extremely cordial, friendly and very competent. Our stay was very pleasant. They have a new prepacked breakfast bagel sandwich that was very good, too.
The check-in was great, I was recognized as a Gold member, and asked if I water or something else, and was able to change our room from 2 queens which is all that they showed on line when I reserved to a king room. However, except for one other person, only the desk clerk last night and this morning were wearing a mask. There was a full breakfast, but self-serve style and the only preventative measures were 6 feet marker circles on the floor. The one managing the breakfast area had neither gloves nor mask; and went from tasks of the food tongs to pushing a cart to get supplies, etc. It is evident the hotel is aged, and maybe or should be facing renovation. Curtains in our room had torn areas, the shower area tiles that were missing on the corner. BUT, the bed was comfortable, the internet was fast, the flooring appeared newer and other than the area mentioned, the room was very clean. BTW, it appeared that most guests were wearing mask even though most of the staff were not.…
Overall this hotel is your standard Hampton. The only reason I gave it a poor rating is due to the age and condition of the hotel. It is obvious that it has not had any renovations in quite some time. Rooms are very musty smelling and very out of date. The positives are the staff, the location (near the water, restaurants) and typical amenities offered by a Hampton Inn
The lobby is spotless. The hallway carpet had stuff poured out in many places including in front of my door. Bleach spots also. There was also a smell when the elevator doors opened. Hall walls & doors need cleaned. My room smelled horribly! 2 huge spots on the carpet. The toilet had tissue in it. You had to hold down the handle to flush. Spots on the tile. Curtains stopped a couple inches above a/c unit. Letting in light & I'm guessing people could see in. The chair & ottoman need to be in a dump. The front desk was polite however super busy. If I could have found another room at the Wyndham, I'd asked for my money back. If you have allergies, stay somewhere else. I didn't even take all my stuff inside. I've stayed in other places during the pandemic where I felt they were going above & beyond...... Definitely NOT Here At This Hampton Inn…
Recently spent two nights at this Hampton Inn. Definitely needs to be refurbished. Very musty smelling. Showing its age. Decent breakfast. Morning front desk workers (after 8:00) were too busy on their cell phones to even acknowledge anybody. To my amazement, found out she was the front desk manager. One arm was in a sling. For $ 116 you would expect a more professional staff.
