Beautiful property. Plenty of great food options. Enjoyed the ocean facing rocking chairs and lovely fire place in lobby. Purchased a great candle from gift shop. Unfortunately, didn’t enjoy room as much due to it being loud, directly over pool. Left jewelry, still waiting to hear back from loss prevention (day later).

I had an unexpected stay in gulf shores and booked 2 nights at this hotel only because I was in need of last minute accommodations. What a pleasant surprise! Beautiful location, clean, modern, safe with excellent on site facilities. Highly recommend!

We stayed at this property based on our love and appreciation of God’s handiwork seen in the natural beauty of state and national parks and the location of this property. Being in the heart of the state park, oceanfront was a winner for us. We chose a Gulf front king room with the balcony facing the Gulf. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted at the front desk and given the option of a 4 th floor room at the end which we chose. The bell hop was readily available with a cart and loaded all our luggage for us and proceeded to take us to our room giving us a brief tour along the way. Upon arrival in our room, we were immediately drawn to the balcony. What a view!! Glistening white sand, a wide, uncrowded beach was just fantastic. The room was well appointed and clean with a king bed, night stands, a table with a chair, a dresser with deep drawers, a wall of cubbies and a lit closet, a mini fridge, mini coffee station and a good sized bathroom. My only suggestion for the room would be better lighting over the vanity. There is ample lighting in the shower and there is a lit makeup mirror, but it still was to dark over the vanity. We loved our room, but when we go back, we would request the next building down since ours was in front of the pool and at times could be loud with rambunctious children having fun. This was only an an issue because we were on a couple’s trip and we would have preferred it to be quieter. The pool area is very nice with ample seating(we would get down there early in the morning around 8-9). Pool side was a nice cafe called the Dragonfly. This place had fantastic flatbreads that were quite large and a fresh spinach/berry salad along with other items. We really enjoyed the food there. There is a covered area by the cafe with a few games like corn hole and stacking blocks and ping pong. From the pool area there is a walkway over the dunes to get to that wide beach and glistening white sand. We were amazed at how few people were on the beach. Sunrise walks were magnificent and you could find a spot on the beach all by yourself during the day. We were blessed to see a couple sea creatures we had never seen during our beach walks. One was an Atlantic Sea Pork, a very interesting creature and another turtle shell shaped, spongy creature that we still don’t know what it is. The shelling was also quite good. We found about 15 olives and many broken in half sand dollars among many other whole shells( I don’t know all the names). There were also flocks of pelicans, sea terns and others. What was so wonderful was the amount of gulf frontage the hotel property had within the state park. That is what made this property so special and uncrowded. As you walk up Orange Beach and down to Gulf Shores where the condos are, there are a lot more people. Besides enjoying the beauty of the beach, we enjoyed most of the 28 miles of bike trails within the state park. The bikes are free to use, you just need to download the app and the bikes unlock. We went on a bike ride each day and would ride into the campground. The campground has a nature center there with an on-site naturalist to answer questions. It was through her that we found out that the creature we saw at the beach was the Atlantic Sea Pork. Another wonderful experience was that we saw a 7 foot alligator that was swimming under one of the boardwalks we were riding over. Back to the lodge...there are 2 restaurants Foodcraft and Perch. Foodcraft is on the first floor and has wonderful outdoor, gulf front seating, a tasty buffet and a yummy menu. I got the avocado toast . 2 mornings and the banana French toast another morning while and my husband got the buffet and definitely got his money’s worth. One of the mornings our server was not very attentive, but then we had Oksana(spelling) who was fantastically sweet and attentive. The prices are quite high, but I think the portions were good. Our experience in Perch was another story. The food was tasty but the prices were exorbitant! They are tapas and my husband got the onion rings, but there were only five of them and it cost $14.00...crazy. Our server was not good there either. When we return to the Lodge we would not go back to Perch since there are wonderful restaurants in Orange Beach and Gulf Shores with more appropriate pricing. We did enjoy the Coffee bar on several mornings and would get a latte and go out onto the gulf front decking and sit in on the Adirondack chairs and watch the surf. Tip: stop off at Walmart and get some peanut butter and some hazelnut spread and nice bread and you can make a sandwich and eat it with the latte for an inexpensive breakfast. Another tip: stop off at Walmart and get some $10.00 beach chairs which we did having flew in and saved a lot of money since the chairs are $40.00 a day! We knew we would have to leave them, but we’re planning on giving them to another couple before we left which we did and they were very appreciative. This trip was fantastic. God blessed us with gorgeous weather and we very much enjoyed our stay at the Lodge. We will definitely go back!

Thank you so much for your review Connie! We love your descriptions of your awesome getaway with us! The Lodge is a unique hotel, with nature at our doorstep. We appreciate you sharing your details of your walks on the sugary white sand beach! There is such a calming effect of walking next to the Gulf, listening to the waves and taking in the beautiful sites. We are thrilled to hear you fully enjoyed our complimentary bike share program! Biking in beautiful Gulf State Park is so much fun, and we love hearing from guests who had a great time exploring and riding. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your dining experience at Foodcraft. We also appreciate your additional feedback regarding Perch. Our restaurants use locally sourced ingredients supplied by local fishermen, farmers and suppliers, who provide organic ingredients that have not been exposed to a lot of chemicals. In turn, our restaurants prices reflect the quality of the ingredients that we use. Thanks again. We look forward to greeting you again with a smile soon!

My husband & I decided to spend 3 nights on the beach on our way home to the hill country from a birthday celebration in Atlanta. I love to drink coffee on the balcony and look at the beach so we paid for the ocean view. It was a beautiful view. I loved the location of the hotel. It is in the state park so it wasn't crowded right next to other hotels. I also liked that they didn't allow people to fish between the 2 boardwalks that belonged to the hotel. The parking is a bit of a walk (I read about it in reviews so I expected it and it wasn't as bad as I imagined). The thing I didn't like was if you need a luggage cart to unload you have to have hotel staff help instead being able to do it yourself. I think there were only 3 bellhops so if it is busy you have to wait. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. They only clean your room if you ask them to which was fine with us. There is a coffee maker and refrigerator but no microwave. Most of the staff wore masks but the guests were not required to wear masks, thankfully. I refuse to wear a mask and think they are more damaging than helpful. All of the staff we spoke with were helpful and friendly. There were a couple places to eat at the hotel. We had a burger by the pool which was tasty. One morning we had the breakfast buffet which was self serve and had a chef cooking omelets to order. The fresh fruit was excellent, too. There are also bicycles you can borrow and ride through the state park. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. A little pricey but great location. I would come here again.

Hi kathiew, Thank you for your review. We are so pleased to hear you fully enjoyed the amazing beach views while having your coffee. It's so relaxing listening to the waves. Our location inside gorgeous Gulf State Park is one of our top amenities. As you mentioned, there are no condo towers or other buildings on either side of The Lodge, allowing for great privacy and a quiet getaway. As a full service property we do offer bell service to assist our guests. Tips are not mandatory though appreciated. We appreciate your compliments for our staff associates. Our number one goal is to make our guests feel at home. Thanks again for your feedback. We look forward to greeting you again soon!

Wonderful stay until checkout when the reverse on my debit card was UNreversed & the entire charge of $1,100 was PUT ON MY DEBIT CARD after a manager clearly fixed it at check in. When I asked to speak to another manager, I was told he wasn’t there because “he had a procedure”. I would also like to note that the only reason they HAD my debit card information is because the check in clerk said she needed a card for INCIDENTALS, which to me, means ON FILE IN CASE THE ROOM IS DAMAGED! High price to pay for lousy customer service and no microwave.

Hi Keri, Thank you for taking time out of your day to provide feedback on your recent visit. On behalf of the entire team, we extend our sincerest apologies for falling short of your expectations. Hotel procedure is to have a $50 hold per day put on a guests credit card for incidentals or room charges. The charge is simply a hold. Please accept our apology for the issue with payment. We hope you remedied to your satisfaction. We understand your concern regarding a microwave. The Lodge is proud of our commitment to sustainability and eco-tourism. In light of that commitment, microwaves are not in the rooms, as they use a high level energy. Although the hotel does not have microwaves, The Lodge has a variety of delicious dining venues that offer something for everyone; two full service restaurants, a poolside grill, a coffee and wine bar in the lobby that includes muffins, pastries and other to go items, and a gift shop next to the front desk for snacks. We apologize again for the payment issue, as well as the service that was not up to our standards. We appreciate you letting us know. We hope you were able to enjoy the sugar white sand beach and the awesome views of Gulf State Park and the Gulf of Mexico.
