First the good points.
Excellent property with a wide spread. The staff are courteous and ever helpful. The breakfast buffet spread is comparable with any 5 star hotel. The rooms are big and spacious. The attached drawing room has fireplace. In the night the housekeeping provides

As you step into Mayfair, you step back in time a bit. The immediate entrance is a little underwhelming as you think you have driven upto someone’s home. But move further and the sheer opulence hits you. Its old colonial style architecture punctuated by little remembrances from t

The good things first :
1) I had booked the stay at this resort much in advance and got a good rate through booking.com. However 1 week into my travel, there was some last minute changes and that required some modifications. The hotel agreed to do that inspite of the fact that th

Recently, I had the opportunity to travel to Darjeeling in India. My hotel of choice was the Mayfair. Sadly, they were booked so I rented other accommodations. I happened across the Mayfair, purely by accident during an outing. So, I decided to venture in to look at the facility.

I see lot of comments mentioning cottage here. But I don't see that on any of the bookings sites. Are these cottages same as deluxe rooms?
Hi, So you are probably referring to the Lloyd's Cottages which are the Deluxe Rooms to the north of the reception having a view of the valley and Sandakphu in the distance. So when booking, do mention your preference of being allotted a deluxe room in the Lloyd's Cottages.

Can we reach Mayfair by car and does it have parking?
Yah. Limited car facilities. Moreover they will arrange any how if you go there as a guest. May Fair is the best place to stay and enjoy with family. Environment is too much clam.

Planning to visit mid August with a toddler and an aged lady with knee problem. Would prefer two adjacent rooms or a family suit. Would be happy to get the answer for my quarries. 1. What are the rooms with best view? 2. How are they accessible? How many stairs need to be climbed? 3. Are there rooms with kitchenette? Are the rooms equipped with electric kettle and small fridge? (traveling with toddler) 4. Does the hotel kitchen provide simple child meal on request? (Not seeing good review about room services) 5. Some reviews described about construction work and coverage of the view. How are they hampered? 6. Is simple chilling with kids inside the hotel garden premises doable?
Hi! I represent the hotel and would be delighted to answer your questions as below: 1. What are the rooms with best view? The rooms in the Heritage Wing including the attics and the cottages without a doubt. However, for the first floor rooms in the Heritage wing, you'd need to climb two flights of stairs of around 10 steps each. The closest cottages would include about 10-12 steps of climbing for the ground level. 2. How are they accessible? How many stairs need to be climbed? So while from the main entrance (near the Governor's house, there's a ramp followed by an incline of steps, I'd recommend using the lower entrance which has a ramp which will lead you to the reception, rooms and restaurant level. Its completely wheelchair enabled so the gradient isn't much either. 3. Are there rooms with kitchenette? Are the rooms equipped with electric kettle and small fridge? (traveling with toddler) We do have an apartment style room in the Orchid Villa which has a kitchenette facility. However, this is for long staying guests and would involve considerable flights of stairs. I would not recommend this room for someone with a knee problem especially when you can get more accessible rooms and the kitchen team is always happy to assist with special dietary requirements. 4. Does the hotel kitchen provide simple child meal on request? (Not seeing good review about room services) Of course we can do that. Being a smaller heritage hotel, during peak tourist season (April, May, June) the room service can take a little longer than usual. 30 minutes is the average wait time for room service. 5. Some reviews described about construction work and coverage of the view. How are they hampered? Over the past few years, we've had some construction work happen around the hotel contributing to even more hotels in Darjeeling. However, that work is over and while some part of the view from the lower altitude executive rooms are hampered towards the town, the reception level rooms of the executive category, heritage wing rooms (facing the ranges) and cottages still give you great valley views. 6. Is simple chilling with kids inside the hotel garden premises doable? Our hotels love kids and chilling inside within garden premises or the playroom is definitely not a problem :). We even have babysitting services so help you enjoy your holiday even more.

Please simply contact the hotel desk. They can answer all of your questions. When we were there last early October, there was a family in the suite below us - a few steps up from the lobby and dining area. They had a small patio/garden area and were using it.
