We stayed at glenburn estate hotel last week for four nights! It is a hidden gem and one of the finest boutique properties in india. Outstanding rooms and service, led by the affable Rudolph. The cuisine changes every day and the activities can keep you busy , other than exploring the region. Or you can just relax in the wonderful gardens and get some much needed me time. Being avid travellers, this a must visit destination
Glenburn is truly a hidden gem. We would highly recommend is for all aspects. We spent our 05th anniversary there and it was such a brilliant experience. The electric blankets and the hot water tub baths (with tea!) added to the charm of the place. The treks organised were amazing and we truly enjoyed the weather. It always seemed to call for a cup of tea :) Special kudos to Rudolph and the team for an amazing experience - and especially for going out of the way to make our 05th anniversary so special. Met some really interesting people as well and that was another bonus in what was a truly mesmerising trip!
Glenburn Tea Estate is located remotely in the Tea Estate area of West Bengal and takes about 5 hours from Bagdogra airport.Firstly , it is overpriced and costs much more than a 5 or 7 star hotel in any cosmopolitan city of India.Even by international standards the rates are very high.Rs 42000 to Rs 46000 per night. Moreover at least 25 km of the road before Glenburn Tea Estate is horrible.Even a 4 wheel drive is bumpy, jerky, and shaky. Those slightly aged run the risk of cracking their bones. Reservations are done by their Kolkatta office and it has been my experience that they are authoritative and speak with an air of superiority. I may add that I had made enquiries with them and they gave me an estimate of about Rs 42000 per night for 5 nights.Meanwhile I got in touch with Thomas Cook who confirmed my booking for Rs 38125 per night. My money was already with Thomas Cook for making payment to Glenburn. However a little while later after confirming my booking Thomas Cook informed that Glenburn is not taking my booking through them.I was aghast as my to and fro flights were booked and I had to visit the place as per plan. Then I contacted Glenburn who said that they have released my rooms as I have not paid the advance of 50% in time.I realised that Glenburn has created this situation for me so that I am forced to pay more to them ie Rs 42000 per night.I had no option but to pay the higher amount.Even Thomas Cook commented that it is a loss of face for them as even after confirmation of booking Glenburn refused the booking in my name made through them.…
My husband and I recently stayed at Glenburn tea estate for five nights. The tea gardens, forests, the beautiful bungalows with its gardens and profusion of flowers and Kanchenjunga playing hide and seek in the background was a magical , blissful experience. It rejuvenated our weary mind and soul in the time of the virus. What made the experience even more memorable was the services of Mr. Rudolph and his staff Yamuna , Sabin , Luna, Nisha , Raju, Dinesh, Maniraj the drivers and others. They all had the perfect blend of professional skill and personal touch. Would love to visit Glenburn again someday.
We spend 3 days in dream. The location is excellent. Where ever you go for breakfast or lunch you can see mount kanchendzhongha. We stayed at singalila suite. The food is awesome. Not a single item in lunch or dinner are similar to another. We always got surprised at the dining table. The staffs are very much careful. We stayed there four nights. We enjoyed everything there to the fullest. We had two picnics there, one near Rangeet river and another near Rungdoong river. We had bird watching tour also. Variety of birds are found. The manager in the tea factory was very helpful and knowledgeable. We learned the basics of tea there. Our guide Luna and asst manager Rudolf are very nice and knowledgeable person. Over all we must thank the person behind all these Mr Bertie and Mrs Audrey without whom the experience would not be so amazing. Thank you all of the glen burn family.…
