We read about this place in Lonely Planet and after seeing appalling reviews for most other places on Trip Advisor we decided to give it a go. We emailed ahead to check the rates and requested a double with bathroom for Rs450. When we arrived we were told that the Rs450 room was not available so we were given a...

It is a wonderful set of old houses looking like a maze. It reminded me of the movie Exotic Marigold Hotel. Unfortunately, the attention is not like in the movie. The gentlemen who attend do so without any pleasure, with much selflessness and impolitely. Bathrooms are shared and are not in good condition. If you wish, you can stay for...

Absolutely gorgeous old Muslim palace, hidden in the old neighbourhood of Triplicane, right next to the cricket stadium! You can´t tell the charm from outside, but as you're guided by the kind staff to your room through the patios the building around you becomes a fairytale palace (even if a little falling apart). Broadlands is a beautiful washed blue-white Indian...

This hotel was one of the most memorable stays of my life. It has such a nice atmosphere and very low prices. The equipment is nice. It is quite close to the beach. I was there in 2012 and want to return very soon.

perfect place for backpackers. very basic, worn-down but charming rooms, some of them with attached bathroom (ask to see different kinds of rooms). triplicane is an interesting neighborhood (muslim-area) with lots of markets, restaurants and things going on, a bit off the tourist-beaten path. very friendly staff. wifi in entrance area only, but awesome connection.

I'm always lazy with writing reviews on TripAdvisor but now as I am sitting on my bed in my beautiful and cheap room (number 39) in this peaceful and charming old hotel I feel like I must share and invite travelers to experience this place. Be simple, friendly and happy and everything will work out fine...

Was in good budget for me. Located near to some great places. Very near to market, mall, beach and some other places. Makes us feel like we are some place old. But the calmness is soothing. No food arrangements but, library is there. Water is there.

After reading some dubious comments about this place I was apprehensive in staying here on my arrival in Chennai so I went next door to Paradise after a day there I had a look at the rooms here and decided to give this a shot, in my opinion this place wins hands down if your after something a bit more...

Great old buildings with courtyards, trees, greenery. Big terraces on roofs tops. Simple room with high ceiling. Good quality / price ratio. Fashioned charm, that quiet place is perfect to rest from the bustle of the capital.

Charming 'hotel' because of the company of fellow neighbors and the beautiful old architecture of the place. For some quiet privacy it will do. Decent money exchange, the staff can get a bit invading on personal space, but harmless. The beds are hard but good for your back... In a city like this everything is dusty so be prepared to...
