My friend and I stayed here for two nights as part of a personalised tour of Northern India. We had asked to stay in heritage hotels and were not disappointed by the hotel and grounds. Our room faced on to the upstairs terrace and was furnished with antiques, with a nice seating area. The bathroom was clean and spacious. Our...

What a shame... This place could do so much better as it is a majestic place full of character and endearing quirkiness but is let down and ultimately does not deliver on the promise. It is expensive for what it offers; food quality and choice should be a lot better. There is free wifi and a good 'business area' where...

Oh dear - what a let down this hotel was. It looked good on screen and some of the reviews painted a picture of old world service and charm. Where to start. The grumpiest receptionist, scowling porters for the luggage, and off we go up a never ending (or so it seemed) backs stone staircase to a beautiful terrace. Our...

Narain niwas palace is surely a palace and mirror the grandeur of the bygone era in its architecture and decaying pieces of art and furniture. Since the hotel is not run by any renowned hotel chain, the lack of experience and technical knowledge reflects in the room set up. Lack of ventilation make standard room feel damp, the TV distance...

This hotel as it is described is Heritage. The hotel is really old, and accommodations are what they are but all in all I can't review it badly. Reception is pretty bad, the guy at the desk is rude and not so kind. The service is really nice and very helpful. Breakfast is poor but good. The park is an...

The hotel grounds and rooms were wonderful for our family, with young children able to roam between gardens, pool and peacocks. Individual wait staff were very attentive however reception staff were not particularly friendly or forthcoming with tour advice and tour prices were significantly marked up.

Narain Niwas Palace is a place we really wanted to go to bowled over by glowing ratings and pictures, so this new year break we decided to break our journey here before heading deeper into Rajasthan! The palace and the gardens are beautiful and the peacocks were the icing! Got to stay in one of the new rooms opening up...

The good: the hotel definitely has charm and there is an excellent restaurant on the grounds (which has no association with the hotel) called Palladio. The less good: the bathroom felt a little dirty, the staff are not overwhelmingly friendly, and the wifi only works in the lobby.

From the moment you walk through the entrance arch you'll be impressed by this hotel. A former palace and grounds which have been kept in a period style that makes you feel like you've been transported back in time. However, in our experience, that was as good as it got. As beautiful as our room was, being December the nights...

Only good thing: Room with period look and feel. Bad: Food - awful. Fell sick after first meal. One of the worst restaurants I've ever eaten. Hot water - if you lucky and the geyser is on, you might get some hot water. We had to wait an hour to get hot water. For Rs. 10-15k, you are better off...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
he Narain Niwas Palace Hotel, a Heritage Hotel, provides a good example of history amalgamating with modern times. Centrally located in Jaipur, the Pink City of India, the palace was built in the 19th century by General Amar Singh Ji, the then Thakur of Kanota. Designed in a fanciful version of The Anglo-Indian style popular in the Victorian Era, the palace now serves as a hotel. The Palace has all the modern amenities and a place where one can enjoy traditional Rajput Hospitality. Decorated with Rajput Flourishing, Rajasthani Furnishing and Traditional Jaipur painted wall decor in a typically bold colour palette; Narain Niwas was built in the 1928 by General Amar Singh, Thakur of Kanota, and Commander of the Jaipur State Force. ... more   less
