It’s the tourist central of the city with a liberal dose of rich history, iconic eating and drinking joints and artistic connections that have found prominent mentions in Gregory David Roberts’ Shantaram. Stroll down Colaba Causeway for kitschy street shopping bargains. Take a break at the many
laid-back legendary bars & restaurants like Cafe Mondegar or Leopold Café. The vibrant vibe of Colaba is incomplete without the buzz at Mumbai’s most iconic tourist hub, Gateway of India & The Taj Mahal Hotel on the parallel lane. Sprinkled with designer boutiques, quaint cafes with rooftop sea view, the promenade is a popular route to go to Elephanta Caves & Alibaug.
The High tea buffet cost us about $Aus40 each. Was well & truly worth it. I'm not sure what time it finishes. You'll take the new bridge over the bay which cuts out a lot of traffic. It took us an hour in peak hour.
