We paid 1600 Rupees for a "nicer room" with fan. And I thought it was great, the shared toilets and showers was cleaned a number of times per day, so it always felt clean. The beds aren't the softest but hey, the location is great! I would absolutely stay there again if I returned to Mumbai.

This place is great me and a few friends negotiated a good price for what it is old but well kept. The staff are amazing and very polite helping us with whatever they could. The cleanliness of the shared bathroom was great (being hesitant to share at first) . The location is very central and not a too long walk...

So it's not the Taj, but it's right behind it.Location is perfect, place is worn, but generally clean by Indian standards. I dont recommend for a first-timer in India, but it's worth what it costs. Mumbai is a pricey place, so it's an ok place to stay if you're on budget.

The Carlton Hotel is in an excellent location directly behind the Taj Palace Hotel and has heaps of charm. Our room had high ceilings, wooden shutters, a nice old wooden dresser at the window (with a carefully placed plastic outdoor chair in front of it) and that old colonial feel on a budget. BUT there were plenty of negatives: our...

Mumbai is a beautiful wonderful city and Colaba is the down and dirty touristy part of it. Try avoiding staying here even if you are a backpacker. Fort area closer to public transport (Trains - starts at 5 rupees - avoid rush hours 7am to 11am). Price & Room If you have to stay in Colaba the Carlton Hotel is...

Mumbai is expensive, especially around the Colaba area. This hotel is right in the heart of Colaba and for £20 a night it is great value for money. We were in one of the newly decorated rooms which was very clean and quirky with a good fan. The shared bathrooms (there's a choice of 4) are clean with a nice...

This hotel is behind the Taj Mahal, and close to a very good restaurant, called Alpes. Apart from that, this Hotel has nothing else to offer to their costumers but dirty beds, bad smells, humidity and the serious face of the owners. Dnt thing I'm coming back again to this Hotel.

Located behind the Taj Mahal Palace hotel in the Colaba district this first floor simple hotel has a mixture of air conditioned rooms, with and without bathrooms. We stayed in a room with two double beds and fan. Given that room prices in Mumbai are high this room offered good value. The bathrooms are of a high standard but get...

Lousy hotel well located near Taj Mahal Hotel. Noisy boys and older employee. Instead of sleeping you may find yourself listening to their loud chatter all night long. When I asked late afternoon check out the owner or big boss guy wanted to rip me a full days fee off. Then he tried to sell me his taxi to the...

We know this hotel for many years as we used to live in India and stay there every fortnight. At first we thought it was a catch as the location is ideal, and we've made personal connections with the staff. But after a while incidents started happening each time we came back - someone tried taking photos of my wife...
