First of all, the guest house was extremely accommodating when our trip was delayed for two days. Old five guest house employees was able to postpone our visit twice with a simple phone call. Upon arrival, Big Bear greeted us with warmth and made us tea and gave us a little run down of the schedule ahead. Dinner was a...

The Old five guesthouse was the most unique, friendly and inviting guesthouse that we have stayed in on our 10 day trip to Taiwan. Daxiong (big bear) gave us a warm welcome with drinking speciality teas and locally produced plum wine. Everything from the food, the furniture, decor, presentation made us overall feel completely welcomed as a guest and like...

I was a little concerned about staying slightly off the beaten path but figured that it will be a nice change from the usual hotel. If you are looking for a relaxing stay at a quaint guesthouse with good healthy food, plenty of nature and nice folks to take care of you during your stay, Old Five is a great...

I booked a quadruple room at Old Five Guesthouse for 3 nights after reading the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. It didn't disappoint. The room was large and spotless, the garden was pretty and I loved the area around the Guesthouse, with an impressive suspension bridge, warm townsfolk and vegetable farms. The folks at the Guesthouse - Stephanie, Da Xiong and...

This is place where you can relax and just relax. This place is far from the main road about one kilometer and 60 meters up on elevation winding road from the guesthouse. No neighbor just the sound of wind and bird singing. You get to sleep peacefully with open window natural air, very quiet and smell of the fresh vegetation....

We originally intended to stay in a hotel within the Sun Moon Lake vicinity but boy, are we glad we picked Old Five as our base! Although it was perfectly fine as a day trip, Sun Moon Lake was super tacky and touristy and we were happy to return to our accommodation, which was located about half an hour away...

We instantly felt welcome the moment we were led into the lobby area. Da Xiong and lao wu were really friendly and we were soon chatting away and sipping tea. We were not worried that our children will be bored as they had activities lined up for the young to the old. The vegetables that were served on the dinning...

Been there twice & recommended some friends there. All loved the place. Very pretty wood based building nestled in the greenery with rolling mountains around. Yet it's near to amenities & nearby farms. Helpful hosts providing great Taiwan hospitality. Specially & delicately prepared meals. We look forward to visit there again.

This is truly the real deal for urbanites who long for a getaway to connect with our Mother Earth once again. Love the simple clean rooms, no TVs - which was great. Love the nourishing dinner spread and unforgettable mantous. Love the informative garden and farmland tours. Miss the warmth and joy in that simple pot of tea, shared with...

We were on 11 days free and easy in Taiwan. Our original plan was to visit Fairly Lake Leisure Farm but did not get a reply from Fairly Lake Leisure Farm after sending them an enquiry. So we search around and found 老五 and decided to give it a try. We wanted to book for two nights stay but only...
