Upon arrival, Coconut Beach Cabanas looked promising. Right on the edge of the beach, the location is beautiful and the cabanas appeared to be well maintained from the outside. We were greeted by an elderly man who spoke little English, and agreed a price of 2500 LKR for the night; which was reasonable considering it's no longer peak season. We... More

On first impressions the cabanas look awesome right on the beach and from the outside look good.... We planned to stay 2 nights, but left after the first night, to expensive! (4,000) rupees after some haggling! And chipmunks ate through the ceiling and kept us awake most of the night. The inside is very tired the ceiling fan made a... More

Dear Andrew B. Thank you for your review and honest comments about CBC. Firstly please accept my appologies for any discomfort you may have experienced whilst there. As I have mentioned in previous replies, last year we had to replace all solar hot water systems in the cabanas at considerable cost, and this may have taken prioity over and above... More

This place has so much potential. It is right on the beach and from the outside, the cabanas look perfect. It just needs a good manager to come in and shake the place up. The rooms need to be spruced up including new mattresses and furnishings. The food takes hours to arrive and the staff are completely incompetent.

At first i want to say, that we stayed in tangalle some time ago... November and december 2012. We loved our stay. We spend there about six nights, we were the only guests most of them. We had a non aircon cabana, but it was okay anyway. Ruwan as the staff was very nice, took us to a really nice... More

Yes it's on the beach and yes the staff are great but the cabanas need some maintenance and a clean. There was broken lamps and coat hangers on the shelves. The blinds looked like rats had been eating them. There were random fittings on the shelves in the bathroom. There were lights hanging off the walls. The owner was there... More

Dear 'Travellingin asia' Thankyou for your honest feedback and my appologies for your discomfort. I will take your points on board and attempt to have improvements made, all I can say in defence is that last year we had to install new solar panels systems to ensure we could offer out guests hot water showers, at a heafty cost, and... We arrived a week ago with initial plans to stay 2 nights. Splashed out on the only cabana with air con. Fridge full of beer courtesy of wine store 5 min walk away. Very friendly family. Davey has really looked after us. Good breakfasts. Deserted beach, just us and a few cute dogs. Moving to unawatuna tomorrow out of curiosity... More

If you like deserted beaches, peaceful setting & hot curries, then this is the place to stay in Tangalle. Ruan & Dilum gave us great knowledge of the area & really looked after us. The coconut pancakes are a "must have", carmelised fresh coconut with brown sugar & cardamon stuffed in pancake. We found this place by chance, stayed one... More

Out of 2 weeks spent in Sri Lanka, and sleeping in a different place each day, this was the best accommodation ever. Close to the city (5 min walk), and still peaceful and quiet. Right on the beach, but still secluded by beautiful palm trees. We went for a 1,5km walk on the beach and concluded that our accommodation is... More

Perfect location on a clean beautiful and almost deserted stretch of beach. The standard cabanas are ok and the AC one are great but a bit more expensive.
