We traveled to Sri Lanka for 7 days and this is the best hotel in whole journey. Quite place with well-maintained facilities and no mosquito, plus my favourite hammock near the lake. Maybe the only drawback is the swimming pool is too hot to swim in the daytime.

Really love this hotel - didn't want to leave after only 2 nights! We were really lucky to have a 3rd floor room in the far block (room 312) - from our private balcony we had the most amazing views across the lake, really peaceful and secluded and we enjoyed spending time just watching the wildlife (saw both kingfishers and...

The open style of the hotel is appealing. Our room had a balcony which looked out onto the beautiful river and the jungle on the far bank. The staff were attentive and there was ready access to the pool. We enjoyed all the food we were served. I would strongly recommend this as the place to stay in Kandy.

Everything about this hotel was perfect for our needs. Not too big, lovely pool, wonderful views of the mountains (lots of Japanese visitors as some views similar to those in Japan!), big rooms with balcony with beautiful views, excellent food, no piped music, excellent service. Lots of interesting places to visit, especially the elephant orphanage, and lunch on the river...

I cannot see what this hotel has to offer the visitor to Sri Lanka you could find many places with ta similar view of the river and forest for a fraction of the price and get far superior service, food and ambience

We stayed two nights at this hotel, the food was superb and the staff couldn't do enough to please us. Everywhere was so clean, and the staff always busy looking after the guests and surroundings. I would recommend you stay here and get a room overlooking the river.

Stayed at the Citadel for 3 nights while touring Sri Lanka. Great location, just outside Kandy, fabulous pool area with lots of beds, great bar with good selection of drinks and cocktails. Ate at the main restaurant each evening, it was a buffet but was excellent and much better than other buffets we have had in hotels across the world....

Great views over the river. Good rooms. Good food. Al a Carte restaurant. Good service. 2 nights of happy after 3 nights of the opposite at Chaaya Village, both of these hotels are run by the same company so they can get it right when they try.

Lovely setting overlooking the river Mahaweli but unfortunately the hotel does not live up to its surroundings. The staff should pay a visit to the sister hotel Cinnamon Lodge in Habarana to learn the protocol of hotel service. Do not leave tables unattended long after guests have departed. Smile occasionally, it really does make people feel more welcome. Food was...

Clean, airy- recently refurbed hotel in the jungle by the river in Kandy. A little out of the way of the town and for us a luxury, unusual treat. The staff were wonderful, the pool is perfect temperature, there is a ping pong table, the bed is piled high with cushions- Breakfast was another level altogether- pay for it- you...
