Fantastic location in central Kandy. We loved the historical photos and atmosphere of the hotel, but it is crying out for a tasteful refurb: - eg we had a 1970s cheap polystyrene stud ceiling tiles in the bathroom; where these had started to fall down you could see the original plaster cornicing ceiling that looked amazing. My advice is -...

We stayed for one night at the Queens Hotel in Kandy. The hotel is located right in the heart of the city and can hardly be topped in terms of its centrality being right next to the Temple of the Tooth and the Kandy lake. You can easily reach everything by walking around the city, which makes it very pleasant....

An old and cosy hotel with big rooms. The rooms are pretty worn out and did not look that clean (our bathroom was not that nice...). We stayed in a big corner room in the beginning, but the hotel is placed right in the biggest traffic junction, so after one night with not much sleet, we changed our room for...

Queens has real charm albeit slightly faded with its Colonial history and excellent location opposite the lake, Tooth Temple, etc. Plumbing is a bit Victorian but works. The dining room is also an experience but good value, as are the rooms. Decent swimming pool.

The Queen is a grande old dame who is in need of some major restoration. Beautiful, grande wood staircases, doors, and wide plank floors. We paid $160 per night and if we compare our room to the pictures on the internet, we had the worst room in the place. Our room was spacious but strangely empty and very dark. The...

This place was probably the bee's knees at Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee ... and little has changed since. Positives: Grand ground floor and the ambiance of a bygone era, Large rooms. High ceilings. Central convenient location by the lake, shops and tooth temple. Negatives: Antiquated equipment. Dingy lighting, Drainage problems in basin. Both hot and cold water problems. Mediocre beds....

Don't stay here. From outside the building looks nice. But that's it. - next to a busy street; car noise all the time - shower is or to hot or freezing cold, nothing in between - very expensive compared to other places - staff is not helpfull. Some examples: * just helping with one out of four bags and still...

This hotel is perfectly located for visiting all the main sites in Kandy. The Temple of the Tooth is across the road as is the lake. The new shopping centre KCC is 50 metres away and it has a first class food court and lots of upmarket shops. The hotel has an old colonial style with waxed floorboards. Rooms are vey...

Vast lobby area, grand staircase, old fashioned pull across cage lift. The landings were polished dark wood and cared for - landings were large enough for seating which would be a welcome addition. Our room was clean and airy, slightly old fashioned but modernising would have spoilt the charm. Breakfast is buffet style with several options. Best of all is...

Six of us dropped in for Lunch. Although we arrived around 2.30 pm we were assured the Buffet was still open. Most of the dishes were empty and the food ordinary. The Hotel obviously needs a face lift and some major renovations. The once grand Queens Hotel is in my opinion a sad shadow of its former self. Will not...
