Ventured here on strength of Lonely Planet guide, I think the writer has been in Sri Lanka too long and forgotten what good (Western food ) tastes like. Was almost excited as we entered the colonial style hotel with fresh modern stylings, picking up a menu that had been designed & printed. Reading through the introduction and the restaurant waxing...

We stayed one night and the rooms were clean. They have attached bathrooms or common bathrooms scenarios. The Antique funiture collection takes you back in time. Best about this hotel is that it is located heart of Kandy and very easy access to shopping, food courts, Temple of Tooth, Banks. Seconldy it has a balcony which has a great veiw....

Very cozy place in the middle of Kandy and next to Buddha tooth relic temple. There are really signs of history, you can literally feel it. But we had bad experience with bedbugs which were on our beds :-/

Stayed at this hotel at the weekend for two nights whilst I was volunteering in Sri Lanka. The hotel itself is in a great location. The temple of the tooth is right outside, with Kandy lake next to that. The restaurant in the hotel was amazing as well! We had breakfast here both days and the Ceylon tea and muffins...

We had dinner here last night, and the food was good, the young waitress was so gentle and cute, and the service was great... No long wait for the food!! I recommend the fried sweet potatoes!! Also Mac and cheese was good. Tonight we will probably be back there!

Olde Empire Hotel is old but not too bad for staying, room is clean, hot water work normally, the location is great(just next to the Temple of the Tooth and kandy lake, in the central part of the city).

The location is great and central but the hotel is horrendous. We asked for a room with bathroom and we were shown a dungeon from your worst medieval nightmare. After some negotiation we got a "room" that might meet western prison standards. Wi-Fi and customer service do not exist here.

We stayed at the Olde Empire hotel for two nights in mid September. Staff were extremely accommodating and allowed five of us to fit in a room designed for four to help us out on our tight budget. Staff were also able to help give us information on places we wanted to go and the best way to do so...
