Fair priced, excellent and large rooms with a balcony, a lovely outdoor pool and in general nice and clean. The staff is welcoming and very much in the background. You have a shared kitchen and living room with a fridge in which you can keep your drinks cool. It’s close to the beach and to the main road, not too far from the station either. The WiFi definitely needs improvement, it sometimes doesn’t work at all or only limited in certain areas. If this hotel would add some extras like selling snacks and drinks and make make a bit out of it more in general (some small constructions around the pool area and some more furniture) it would be easily in the top ten hotels around.

We very much enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend to those wanting a unique hotel that’s very reasonably priced and in a quiet but central location in Hikkaduwa. It’s a quirky, brightly colored building that is like a cross between a hotel and apartments. There is a large communal living room, dining space and fully functioning kitchen area for guests to share that is complete with a nice balcony terrace, and the rooms themselves are also very spacious (each coming with a big, well-equipt private bathroom) as well as comfortable and clean. The pool is well maintained and just big enough to do some gentle exercise in. The garden around it is full of different trees, palms, plants, tropical birds and wildlife. Sun beds are also provided for relaxing. The hosts are friendly, attentive and welcoming, and the house’s location means it is very close to the beach and Main Street but just enough removed to be in a very calm and peaceful spot — a good getaway from the chaos of Hikkaduwa. Stronger wifi (that would work in the rooms or at least in the inside/upstairs communal areas) would make the place even better.

Room Tip: AC costs extra, but the fan and an open balcony door was enough for us at night!

It was a wonderful stay!! I'm actually surprised why we were the only guests at this cozy and welcoming place this time of the year. The family who runs the hotel are incredibly great people, always ready to make your stay as comfortable as possible. It felt more like visiting my favorite aunt. The breakfasts are delicious - eggs or omelet, toasts, jam, a glass of freshly blended fruits for each person, tea or coffee and the housewife prepared some local food each day - coconut milk rice, manioc, sweet potato, etc. (something different every day). We enjoyed breakfasts next to the pool, accompanied by loud chipmunks and once even by a varan (they are everywhere). On the second day a part of the shower fell off, it was fixed on the same day. There were 3 rooms on our 3rd floor. There's a kitchen and a fridge, so you can cook. If you need any kitchenware for cooking, feel free to ask the hosts. And there's a washing machine in case you need to wash your clothes. The room is spacious, a mosquito net protects the bed. The bathroom is simple, there's everything one may need. Though everything is not new, it functions, which is fine with us. There's one and the same very long balcony for 2 rooms. As we were the only guests in the hotel, we slept with the balcony door open to get fresh night air. The room was cleaned twice during our 11 day stay, the towels and bed clothes were changed too. The hotel is located a bit afar from the noisy main road, next to the railway, 3 mins walk to supermarket, 10 mins walk to the beach next to Tranz hotel, 15 mins walk to the bus station. The bus stop is also very close. Special thanks to the hosts for letting us stay much longer on the day of departure for no charge!! The owner picked us up from the bus station upon arrival and dropped us off there upon departure too. Dislikes: A train passing by (and making loud noises) since 4:30 in the morning was the thing that annoyed me the most. It was too hot (and humid) for me in the room even with the ceiling fan working, though my husband felt fine. Mosquitoes were quite annoying, but we bought citronella oil and it saved us from being eaten by them. It might be good to add things to wash dishes at the kitchen like dish washing liquid.

We arrived really late, around 2 am because we had a lot of problems with the public transport. unfortunately we couldn't get in contact with Time Travelers nest, because they didn't pick up their phone in the evening. Luckily they picked up the phone when we arrived, and let us in. We are still sorry we called you out of your bed. The room was nice and big, with a good bed. There was also a kitchen to share with other people. We didn't use the kitchen but it was really great that we finally had a fridge in a guesthouse! The breakfast was really nice. Every morning we had the 'standard' western breakfast, with toast, butter, jam, coffee or tea and eggs, but also a sri lankan dish! We loved the sri lankan breakfasts! It was also great to have a pool. The pool was big and really clean! The hosts where really kind and helpful. It is not the cheapest place, but it is worth the money. We definitely recommend this place and would love to come back one day.

Spent a week here with my wife & son. Location is great since its not on the beach road. Very friendly service, especially our 14 months old son got a really good service all the time. We also got to wash our clothes free of charge, not to mention the gifts that our son got. Great value for the money.
