This guest house is a travesty. The staff seem clueless. There was no sheet on the bed I was put in. There was not just dirt but actual mud on the floor of the bathroom. Sheets were suspiciously stained and the room seemed to have moths come in from no where (doors and windows all shut). Breakfast was only some... More

We arrived in Dambulla after a long ride from Kandy. We decided to stay at Chamara Guesthouse as the rooms were negotiable and we were able to get them within our budget, which was quite low. Chamara is one of the friendliest and warmest people I have met so far in Sri Lanka. He is the embodiment of Sri Lankan... More

Rooms had very basic amenities, but were clean. The owners of the place were very kind and helpful. The place Dambulla does not have many tourist attractions, except for the Buddhist rock temple. This temple is located at a walkable distance from the guesthouse. Prices are economical. It costed ~3000 SLR for one triple occupancy room.

I think this place has improved in the last year. The owner and his wife were very friendly and helpful. The room could have been cleaner but having stayed in 9 different hotels in sri Lanka I'd say this is a problem at most of them. The food was nice if a bit salty.

There is a big selection of guesthouses on Matale Road, the main road, close to the Dambulla Cave Temple. Front the outside, this one looked great... the price was ok, but they charged me more, I think because I arrived with a driver, than the other guests I've meet there. I looked at the room quickly, it looked ok. When... More

“Ask for a room in the back building. Just make sure to make a really good inspection before taking the room. Negociate, not same price for everyone. Don't arrive with driver, you will pay more.”
