Really clean and well kept place that needs some serious Reno ie showers are pretty ding. It’s to be expected of a place this old. Staff are very nice and you have a simple egg and bred breakfast prepared to your liking. Really amazing views of the mountains and the valley. Great place to jump off to other adventures. Close to all in town amenities. My favourite thing? The affordable and accessible laundry services they coordinate for you. Thanks for a lovely stay
Well located, the owners are pretty nice, nice bed and shower. There's a good market one block away. Pretty nice terrace, with a great view, where the breakfast is served. About 3/4 blocks up the main square. Recommended.
They let us check in very early, and when we returned from hiking late the next day, they let us shower for 5 soles. We could not have asked for better accommodation in terms of timing! Very comfy beds as well.
I have stayed at El Jacal many times now. The view from the top floor is amazing. The rooms are clean and neat. The hotel is close to the center square in Huaraz - so it is very easy to get where you want to go.
The owners greeted us as soon as we arrived for our late check in. This was nice and comforting. As soon as we got to our room #304 I 'm not sure what I was thinking, but based off the reviews I did expect more cleanliness. The sheets and bedspread was a little dirtier than my liking and mold in the bathroom ceiling. However, despite this they did provide hot running water was very much needed and (kind of) clean towels so we could dry off. The views in the morning faced the mountains so that was a nice treat. We woke up at 6am so we could get a head start to check out but, the owners nor help were no where to be found. To say the least, I think Huaraz is a sleepy kind of hikers town and eventually I ran into the owner just as I was getting picked up for my Santa Cruz Trek so I could check out. I provided the owner my mastercard so I could check out and even though every stick in their window promoted the MC logo, including Amex, she would not accept my card and insisted Visa. I thought this was misleading but, besides that it wasn't an issue. If you need a cheap place to stay I do recommend it however, it is off the beaten path. I only choose it because it was close to the trekking office.…
