We stayed at Last Frontier Boutique resort in January 2011. We had a great stay, Jason and the other staff were great. The food was also the best we had in Borneo! It is also a small resort with only four rooms. This makes the stay so much better than staying in a crowdy place. We did several river cruises...

We stayed at the Last Frontier in December and had a really great time. Jason and the other chaps looked after us really well. It's an amazing place right on top of a mountain ridge with great views. The climb up the 500+ wooden steps is something of challenge, but fine if you take it slowly. It's worth it when...

Gert and Jason have a great thing going with this lodge. They are the only lodge up on a hill and the view down both valleys and to the river is breathtaking- and well worth the walk up the stairs! We really enjoyed the 2 evening river cruises and jungle trek- the guide Rodel knew a lot about the local...

What to say about my superlative stay at the Last Frontier Lodge. Owners Gert and Jason really ensure you have a brilliant time, from the pick up in Sepilok to the drop of in Sandakan, it was the highlight of my two weeks in Malaysia. Being confronted by the 500 odd steps to get to the lodge is quite daunting...

Climbing all those stairs, especially having just climbed Mount Kinabalu and therefore being very sore, was daunting. However the experience at the lodge was totally worth it – one of the main highlight of our trip. Jason is a fantastic host – friendly and informative – and the food is amazing. The lunch we were given when we arrived was...

We often say that people make the experience - well in this case it was the people, the location, the food, the surrounds - it was wonderful - I had read the reviews of the stairs, no problem - I climbed Mt Fuji in Japan the following week, also the food - fabulous, Jason - unbelievable - the quintessential host...

Don't let the stairways to the Last Frontier Resort put you off! Once you reach the top, you won't regret it. Gert is a perfect host and together with Jason, Bonbon and the rest of the staff he made our stay in his resort unforgettable. We enjoyed the boat trips, the jungle walks as well as the accomodation. This place...

Our stay at the Last Frontier resort was absolutely fabulous! We are travelling with our 3 teens (12-15-16 years old), and all 5 of 5 mentioned our stay in this tiny resort as the best highlight of our trip. Gert and Jason came to pick us up at Sandakan, and we drove about 2 hours to the resort. As soon...

Everything written here is true. Food is really good. I recommend 2 nights there. The first cruise was not that successful. But the second day, I say lots of monkeys and elephants.

I spent 2 nights here a few weeks ago and it was absolutely fantastic. The owners, Jason and Gert, were great - very friendly and genuinely want to see you have a good time. Although it's a bit of a hike up the stairs, it's well worth the effort. The resort is tiny, with only 4 guest rooms, which means...
