Situated by one of the many tributaries of the Mekong, this accomodation is environmentally well placed with good access to the surrounding countryside. The food has very good choices (they even provided a recipe so we could copy the dish back home) and the staff are friendly and attentive. We stayed in Room 1 which is a wooden structure on stilts with great views. Some might see it as basic, we thought of it as inspiring! Shower and hotwater slow to arrive but via solar panel, bed springy, but with hammocks and mosquito nets and plenty of fresh air, it was a great room to stay in. Access via a ladder so might be difficult for mobility impaired. The whole place had a very good vibe to it.
Off the beaten track in the Mekong Delta is an absolute jewel.. family friendly and very rooted in back to basic pleasures.. a great restaurant is open all day long with a great range of good value meals.. accommodation is basic but clean and the staff are fantastic.. spoken english is excellent and they all go out of their way to make your stay special.. the tours and activities on offer are great value too.. cant offer enough praise to this place.. top marks..
My husband, daughter, her boyfriend and I stayed for two nights here and cannot recommend it highly enough. It’s cheap but nothing about it is. A beautiful rustic shack bungalow allows you to totally relax and see some of the real Vietnam. The staff are so friendly, helpful and funny especially Son and Anh. They are all about the experience and amazing ethos than the money. The only disappointing thing was having to leave. Thanks for the experience and memories xxx
We had a great 2 nights at Nguyen Shacks. Lovely peaceful location (bar the karaoke party happening further down the river...) staff were so friendly and helpful and nice food at the restaurant. We did the floating market tour and sunset boat trip which were both great. Would recommend to anyone visiting the Mekong Delta. Just don't forget the bug spray!
Very nice place, with bamboo houses along a small river and a lot of vegetation around. Food is very good too. You can use bikes for free, staff is nice and helpful. The swimming pool looks not so clear though.
We spent 3 nights here. We found the staff friendly, polite and super helpful and the food was amazing! The rooms really are shacks so insect repllent is essential! We did the floating market tour, local village bike tour and did a cooking class out of the hostel. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to anyone looking to see the Mekong Delta and surrounding area!
The Nguyen shack is just as described- rustic glamping experience a good 15 minutes out of Can Tho city. The staff were lovely and we enjoyed a fantastic and highly recommended Floating Market Expedition with Hue. However, we only stayed one night and I think it just didn’t fit our purposes as much. This place looks like a beautiful spot to wind down and relax, and if I came back I’d love to stay a few days. However, for a one night visit we found it a bit too far out of town and didn’t get to appreciate it. My one major complaint about the shack itself was with the beds- rock solid. My main advice for booking this place is make sure it fits your purposes, if you’re doing a flying visit like us, staying closer to the city may be easier.
Great place to check out the MKD ..simple but perfectly adequate cabins on the river front. Great little restaurant and main “lodge” area and all the activities on the door (river) front ... thoroughly enjoyed the morning market tour, bike riding through the countryside and generally seeing the real MKD
The highlight of our trip so far, well worth the trip down from Ho Chi Minh, and wish we could have stayed a day longer. The shacks are exactly as pictured but what they don’t show is how peaceful it is. The mostly young staff are incredible, you feel like part of a big family. They’re funny, concerned that you’re comfortable and have what you need, and go out of their way to make you feel at home. The kids loved the pets too. Food was great. Free breakfast until 12, with rest of meals & drinks very economical. The kids were happy to be able to have plain bread with jam or eggs. My husband had the cook it yourself bbq which was a bit of fun. We did a tour to the Cai Ring markets and I thought was well priced and a great adventure. Mosquito nets over beds was helpful, though I must admit we didn’t see a single one in our time there. It was warm during the day and going to sleep, but got a little cool in the middle of the night/early morning. Cannot fault our stay! So pleased I followed the reviews on TA, otherwise we would have missed out on this gem. 👌…
Stayed with 9 and 12yo. Heat is bearable with the fans. Sadly the pool was out of action. Food was great. We have stayed at Ninh Binh shack also and this place food and drink are much better. A power cut at night times but only short and bearable. Go on the Long market tour - was an excellent day trip. Happily recommend to anyone wanting an experience and a few days respite from the city
