We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was perfect. The staff were very attentive (the bar staff in particular we found very friendly!) and the location is just stunning. The room was fine and there were no complaints from us. We’d recommend and stay again!
The room needs to be renovated. Quite clean, but not crystal. There is a little shop in the resort with souvenirs, water, beer, cigarettes, sun lotions. In the resort you may pay by card. 50 meters away there are three restaurants, right on the beach. And two little shops with basic things. Average breakfast. Very polite staff. I stayed in a room that opened directly onto the beach. Very few people, the beach is white, fine sand.
Beautiful location, however that’s where it stops! Worst hotel I have ever stayed in! Hotel are not interested in any levels of customer service and completely left customers high and dry on New Years Eve Although we evidenced in writing that we had booked and pre paid for New Years Eve we are advised by management they had changed the deal after booking and would not honour an hour before the celebrations were due to start. All they kept saying was we could pay THB3500 each again! Pay them twice - I don’t think so!! Especially as there were 10 of us!! Resort very unkept as well, rubbish everywhere
I think giving this hotel a poor rating is unfair. If you want 5* with a sterile environment go to Dubai or Singapore. If you want arguably one of the best beaches on the planet with incredible views but sacrifice some expectation stay here. It's not 1*, it's not 5* If you get a bum room then get moved as we did, the hotel were happy to help. The place needs 5m spending on it and if it did I believe it could be one of the best destinations on the planet. It is however a bit tired but didn't for one minute detract from an incredible stay.
Highly advise to avoid staying here! Very poor English, they don’t understand your requests, forget to do things. They charged us 3,500 baht each (21,000 in total) which equates to around £500 for New Years dinner and then refused us entry and claimed we hadn’t paid! Management, staff, quality of the rooms (smell damp and full of mosquitos) are really poor. Highly recommend the island, but stay at an alternative accommodation. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.
The place is run down and not well maintained. We looked and sourced for so many places on Phi Phi Island and finally found Phi Phi Holiday Resorts. We deliberately chose the higher category (villas with pool) hoping that it will be a good experience and booked 3 villas. On the first day of arrival, the sliding door to the pool area dislodge. it almost fell onto me and luckily my husband helped me hold and put back the sliding glass. I did not lodge a complaint then as I thought its ok as we need to be forgiving that the hotel industry is getting out of covid and if nothing serious happens, we could just close an eye. Subsequently when we were about to shower, there is a stench coming out. seems like the water filtration system for the resort is not working well. So, we had to let the water run for a while before we shower as I am not too sure if the stench is from the water or from the drain. But it did subside after a while. On the 2nd day of our stay, the sockets in villa 714 have no electricity and initially, we were thinking if the adapter that we bought is spoilt. Hence my friends could not charge their phones and had to come over to our villas to charge. We decided to be forgiving once again as it was afterall a short 2 nights stay. On the day of check out, my friend wanted to come over to our villa to charge his mobile phone. He went through the front of the villa and stepped onto sharp shrubs stem cuttings that pierced through his slippers!! I am surprised when he screamed for help. The cutting went 1 inch deep into his foot. He has accidentally stepped onto the shrubs stem cuttings as the grass patch was not maintained (camouflage as seen in the pictures) and seems like the gardener did not cut the grass properly as well. Immediately, we called front office for first aid help. A lady came to attend in 15 mins. Though the attendance was quick, but the first aid box did not have the right bandages and antiseptic to help with the wound, so she had to go back and get betadine again. I told the Front office reception that this situation is not acceptable, and she mention I can just claim from Insurance!! There is no doctor in the resort nor is there a professional who can attend and clean the wound properly. My friend must bear with the pain until we reach Phuket Patong to see a doctor. We were checking out and I requested for the General Manager to give me a call but when she called, I was showering hence I missed her call. I went to the reception counter during check out and requested for the General Manager again but once again, I did not see her. So I requested for the General Manager to call me instead. But it has been 4 days and I have not received a single phone call at all!! When we arrive in Phuket Patong, the doctor mentioned that the wound is not cleaned properly and there is bark of the shrubs in his foot. Yes, I can do a claim on my travel insurance, but the rest of our trip is totally ruined!! I had to cancel a catamaran trip which deposit has already been paid as doctor advised my friend that he swim or go out to the sea, and he had to change dressing every day. So please do not stay in this resort. It is nowhere near a luxury and does not live up to any standards at all. The service standards is definitely worse than a 3 star hotel. There is no basic protocol to manage situations and no follow up and calls from the management at all.…
After voicing our concerns about the first room we stayed in we were moved to a clean, modernized room. The breakfast is great, it has vegetarian options and anything from sweet to savory. We took the shuttle and speed boat from our previous hotel to Phi Phi for 1500 Thai Baht. And we will return for 1250 Thai Bath from the hotel next door because Phi Phi Holiday resort doesn’t offer a convenient time for us to leave, however they are so kind as to take us and our luggage over to the other resort to board the boat. Staff is kind and helpful. The spa is awesome!!! This side of the island is more family friendly and chill, while the other side (2 hrs by foot or 30-40 min loamy boat from hotel beach) is more party.
We booked a garden bungalow for 3 nights with good expectations based on recent reviews. However, our experience was poor. We stayed in room 308 and the bungalow looked lovely from the outside. On entering the room it smelled awfully damp and this damp smell was in the pillows, bed linen and even got into our clothes. The room was extremely dated and mould was growing on the lamp shades, windows and walls. The bathroom was probably the worst part of the room and was dirty - layer of dirt on the window sill, grime in the shower and in need of a deep clean. We went to complain to reception and requested an upgrade, even saying we’d pay for one. We were told we’d have to pay 1500 baht per night for an upgrade, but when we went to view the room it was exactly the same style as our original room minus the damp smell… We wouldn’t pay this on principle. We were then told the next option was to pay an additional 9000 per night for a better upgrade which was well out of our budget considering what we’d already paid. When we politely declined, they said sorry but they couldn’t do anything other than send housekeeping. This entailed spraying febreeze in the room which was actually quite amusing. The location is brilliant and the beach wonderful. Hotel food is poor however there’s some lovely choices for food on the beach front. Probably the worst hotel we’ve stayed at and really disappointed given the price… 2 stars given for location.…
Short version: this hotel delivers about what I would expect for a 3-star resort. The location is it's number 1 positive attribute, along with the hospitality of the staff. The amenities and condition of the resort are its downside. Long version: My husband and I stayed here for six nights on our first visit to Thailand. We had a great time because of all the beauty and adventure the island had to offer. The hotel itself was a good home base, but not the highlight of the trip (and that's about what I suppose I would expect from a 3-star hotel). The prices for excursions/longtail boat were reasonable and we were able to fill our time with a lot of different activities, but mostly lounging on the beach and swimming. Below are the reasons I could not rate the resort above average: 1) I deliberately booked a beachfront bungalow. This would suggest a bungalow with the beach directly in front. Upon being shown to our room the first thing I noticed was there was another bungalow directly in front of ours. Not the beach. I didn't want to be a "typical American," and complain right off the bat, but this really didn't seem acceptable to me so I asked the very nice staff member to see if she could address the issue. She seemed immediately to understand my concern and went to talk to her manager. They were unable to offer us another room in the same category as the one we booked (they offered a downgrade), but said they could move us the next day. Ultimately they ended up moving us later that evening, and I appreciated that. However, disappointment is not the first feeling I want to experience when kicking off my island vacation. Note to travelers - if you want beachfront, don't book bungalow 110. 2) The bathrooms are extremely dated. Because of this, I never felt as though they were truly clean. I am sure the cleaning staff do a great job, but the appearance of old fixtures, tile and grout give the impression of constant grime. 3) The decking around the pool areas (both the main pool and sunset pool) is dilapidated and dangerous. I actually witness a little kid, maybe 5-6, have their foot break through one of the decking boards while they were simply standing still as their parent toweled them off. Luckily, no one was hurt. The decking boards are all missed-matched , cracked or peeling. It's a trip hazard or stubbed toe hazard at least. 4) The grounds are maintained, but there's room for improvement. The grassy areas are overgrown in places (but not in a natural, "I'm in the wild" way). with lots of weeds. In some places where there needs to be pathways, there aren't any. For example, you have to walk in between some of the beachfront bungalows from the back in order to get to the front and these areas are not cleared as paths so you're walking across overgrown grass, dirt piles and, in some cases, garbage. You could walk along the beach to your bungalow as some of them have sand that go right up to them, but if you tried to walk to our along the beach, you would eventually hit patchy, uneven grass or pavers from the other side. Either way, there was no consistency and this made the pathways just seem unfinished and a bit of an afterthought. 5) There are staff members that clean the beach directly in front of the resort every morning so the beach is mostly clean, but there still always seems to be garbage laying around. Some of this is the work of inconsiderate guests, but also, I think there needs to be more frequent cleaning. I saw room service trays with leftover dinners left outside of bungalows for several days before being collected, so debris naturally ends up scattered around. I can understand guests not wanting to leave room service treys in their own rooms as this (we learned the hard way) quickly attracts hordes of ants. There are not many trash cans around the resort either. Also, there are some "behind the scenes" areas of the hotel that are meant for staff, but they still visible to guests and are cluttered with junk and garbage. 6) Food and drink was fine, but I would recommend eating at any of the local spots on the beach on in Sai Village over the hotel food. It will be less expensive and tastier. Drinks also always seem to take a really long time and they're never made the same twice (I advise not attempting to order a Margarita). Also, sometimes you can hardly tell if alcohol was actually added. 7) The hotel offers certain activities and excursions at really great prices, but I was disappointed when I found out about other activities we could have done but the resort didn't offer it, or at least didn't advertise it (such as going to see bioluminescent plankton). 8) There are arguments for and against spraying to keep mosquitos away, but whatever your opinions are, this hotel definitely does not spray and the bug bites quickly add up. 9) While there was never a lack of beach chairs available, they ones that were offered were cheap plastic. Most of them were cracked in one spot or another and there were no cushions. So yay for not having to lay in the sand (lots of sand fleas!), but not so much for the uncomfortable chairs. Speaking of a lack of chair cushions... this goes for all other manner of chair around the resort. The outdoor dining chairs, for example, were clearly meant to have cushions but did not, so you were generally always uncomfortable when laying or sitting on any of the hotels furniture... Some of these things are pretty minor and, in reality, are not going to ruin your vacation, but they are tiny details that keep the hotel from earning any points that would bring it above and beyond "average."…
We have just returned from our second stay at Phi Phi Holiday Resort (previously Holiday Inn). We stayed for 11 nights and enjoyed every minute! The staff are so friendly and attentive (huge Thanks to Joy for making our stay so special) and the food is amazing, especially in Jimmys Cafe. Food at the neighbouring locally owned beach restaurants is also incredible and cheaper than hotel prices. Areas of the hotel are undergoing renovation but this didn’t really affect us as we spent most of our time on the beautiful beach. We stayed in a beachfront bungalow (116) with amazing views of the beach and ocean. Room was adequate, could do with a touch up here or there and it seems they are making their way through updating the bungalows anyway, but we have no issues with the room at all. Would recommend the water activities (snorkelling, paddle boarding and kayaking) if you like that sort of thing. Overall a fantastic time away and we can’t want to return in a few years!…
