I stayed at the Roatan Backpackers Hostel for 3 weeks while volunteering at the nearby Clinica Esperanza and could not have asked for a better experience! The owner/manager Mel is wonderful and does everything she can to promote a family vibe at the place, including organizing fun activities and day trips for the hostel residents. The facilities are wonderful, Sandy...

My wife and I love staying in hostels, for the informal atmosphere and the fun of meeting fellow travellers from all around the world - we actually met in a hostel 8 years ago! For our week-long trip to Roatan, we needed a base of operations from which to explore the island, scuba dive, snorkel and relax. Roatan Backpackers' Hostel...

My stayed in the Hostel was short although I wished I could have stay a bit longer. The people that you meet in the Hostel are the warmest, open minded and just very welcoming people - in my opinion- in the island. Mel, the owner, is such a sweet person. She will go above and beyond to make you feel...

My step son and I stayed at Mel's for one week. We had a great time. I had mentioned to the owner Mel that we were coming down for diving and that my step son wanted to get his diving certificate. She mention Reef Gliders in West End. This turned out to be an excellent choice for the both of...

After a 2 week stay I found this hostel to be excellent. As with most hostels the accommodations are simple and inexpensive. But Mel the Owner/Operator makes sure everyone is comfortable and goes that extra mile by planning remote beach excursions, dinner and bonfires on the beach to keep people entertained just to mention a couple. The rooms are clean...

Stayed for a week in the private rooms which are quite cozy. Fantastic people all around the hostel, mostly from Canada and the U.S. Location is a little out from the main touristy areas, although it only costs very little for a taxi ride into West End or Coxen Hole. All in all, I would definitely come back to the...
