We didn't have the opportunity to stay at Hacienda Cusin (we were at the sister property, Las Palmeras) but did have a great lunch there and a thorough tour of this lovely estate. The restaurant is roomy, bright and altogether pleasing. The food was tasty, ample and well-presented by affable waiters. Vegetarian selections (ours) were varied and available. The large...

Beautiful public rooms, very comfortable hotel rooms, clean, large, feels like visiting old family friends. A fire is started in your room each evening. The gardens are serene. The library and WiFi are a big plus. The dining room is pretty good, but skip the glass of wine offered and get a better bottle! They easily arrange a taxi to Otovalo,...

My nine days at Hacienda Cusin, near Otavalo, Ecuador, was a special and wonderful experience. I have traveled in Europe, Asia, and the Americas and never stayed anywhere with a character and atmosphere as original, satisfying, and even inspirational as Hacienda Cusin. It is owned and was developed by Nicholas Millhouse over more than two decades and I was fortunate...

We stayed at Hacienda Cusin for four nights in February 2013 after a Galapagos trip. Cusin is located about 10 kilometers from Otovalo, which makes it a perfect location for visiting nearby sites such as the Otovalo market, Cotacachi (for leather goods), Peguche Falls, the towns of Peguche and Agato (for weaving), and Cuicocha Lake (hiking). We had a driver...

We definitely felt as though we took a step back in time and found ourselves in an old world hacienda. The hacienda is quite large and it was neat to walk among the gardens and see the various buildings. The interiors are filled with antique furniture, artwork, etc. In the evenings, all of the fireplaces are lit, including the one...

Thank you for enjoying Cusin's intention of preserving the past. Since your visit, two new, professionally trained chefs have joined Cusin's hard-working kitchen staff.

I spent almost a week at Cusin at end of December/early January. The hacienda is located in the Andes, so the scenery is gorgeous and there are ample opportunities for hiking - which in the altitude can be challenging! The rooms are good-sized and very comfortable. I loved the fire lit every night in my room and the hot water...

We went to Quito to visit family for the holidays. We were not sure to travel with our 7yr old daughter due to her food allergies (eggs and tree nuts). We brought microwavable mac and cheese just in case we couldn't find any options. We arrived to Cusin for lunch and they were SO NICE to cook from scratch and...

Driving through the gate brought gasps from our small group of travelers. After a short drive from Otovalo on the dusty back streets of a small village we arrived at the hacienda. It's beautifully landscaped and decorated with wonderful classic artisan pieces with an old world look. Great care was taken to make each room individual and comfortable. A fire...

Thank you so much! Your appreciation of the art and antiques collections is much appreciated. Cusin intentionally keeps a low profile and so enjoys being 'unexpected'. Come back soon!

I travelled to the Hacienda over the New Year week with family. We had a week in the area – including an overnight trip to the Cloud Forest. I had never been to Ecuador before – and found the Hacienda a great hoem base from which to explore part of the country. The sheer beauty of the surroundings makes the...

We recently spent 3 nights at the Hacienda Cusin and I would have been happy to spend a month there! The first night was spent in a double room which was a bit disappointing, but we upgraded to a suite in the morning and it was well worth the money. The room was very large and sunny and we were...
