A spacious and clean hostel with a great central location close to shops, and market. The bus terminal is a 15 minute walk away. The kitchen facilities are good. The staff are very helpful and advise on all the local attractions. The wifi is not reliable and occasionally experiences outages. I do not think this hostel offers good value for...

We stayed here three nights. Staff are helpful though sometimes absent from reception. The kitchen is very well equipped with a powerful gas hob. The room was clean and comfortable. Quiet too considering it looked over the street. Atmosphere was a little lacking in the hostel but most likely just because it was quite quiet. The roof terrace is great...

Positive points: The rooms were spotless; the beds were very comfortable; it was quiet; the hostel provided soap, shampoo and towels; the kitchen was big; the view from the terrace was great; the owner was very friendly and informative. Negative points: none that spring to mind. All in all an excellent place.

Some of the less than positive comments on the FD are regarding the noise. Yep, Av Calderon is quite noisy. The FD has done their best to mitigate this by installing attractive wood shutters to block out the light and noise (i.e. Rm 12). However, it is an impossibly noisy street. The good news is that the noise dies down...

While in Otavalo we based ourselves at the Flying Donkey Hostal, which was located a block away from the central plaza and a short walking distance to the Saturday market. The hostal was comfortable and secure with hot water, decent wifi, kitchen facilities and a rooftop terrace. It was uniquely decorated with vintage quirky finds and handmade furniture. The manager,...

Great owner, great location, fairly cheap, has big kitchen, clean shared bathrooms. The only downside is that the beds were very hard. A great option for anyone wanting to go to otavalo for more than a day trip.

We only stayed there one quick night on our way to Colombia. Private room was small but big enough. The showers had good pressure and hot. The beds are hard though. Wifi worked well. The staff were friendly and helpful with recommendations and how to get a bus up to Colombia.

Paul, the owner is a very friendly person and a good host. The hostel is very clean. There is a good kitchen. Fruits, tea and coffee are free. Hot water available in the shower. Paul helped us plan a trip to Cotacachi and the Cascade de Pegucha. Otavalo is a very interesting town. The markets are great!

The hostel is clean, good central location, 24 hour access with ensuite rooms and included toiletries. There's free tea and coffee and a piece of fruit in the morning if you're lucky. So far so good. The big problem is the huge windows on to the street with very thin curtains in most of the rooms. The streetlights shine straight...
