My wife and I stayed 2 nights, arriving by rental car at 2PM. Check in was quick, submit our passports, then receive the room card and information on our “Vacation Senior Castle View” superior room which included breakfast, daily picnic baskets and use of the indoor spa.
A single elevator accessed the 2nd floor, then a long corridor walk to #239. Plush robes were on the 2 comfortable twins(placed together) across a long desk/drawer unit with a modem router (super room WIFI), hot pot, cold mini bar, then large closet and fully outfitted bathroom with instant hot water and strong exhaust.
The spacious room had a wall TV with Bloomberg/CGTN in English and central heat/air with wall control.
The window wall opened to a balcony with table and chairs and a direct view of the perched castle which was brightly lit at nightfall.
The 7 AM breakfast buffet was delicious, fresh and extensive, and included excellent service from wait staff to clean up.
During the cool morning, we took the self-guided tour of the castle and walked the 5 km lake promenade. After a hot picnic lunch (4 different menu choices) on our balcony which was shaded until 3 PM, we reserved the clean 29 degree C (84 F) indoor pool (14 m x 5 m x 1.25 m deep) for laps.
This popular 80 room rural hotel has been an excellent choice for exercise and relaxation costing $178 for 2 nights.

One of the best hotel experiences in my life. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very good location, surrounded by nature with perfect view on the Castle. Beautiful interior design. Room was clean and spacy, great for stay. Clean toilets, all necessary stuff provided such as shower gel, soap, body lotion, slippers, towels… Delicious food and a wide selection, there can even be live music during weekend. Nice wellness with indoor pool, jacuzzi and several saunas (special recommendation: panoramic sauna).

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Trakošćan, with nice rooms with beautiful views, spacious rooms, and kind staff that was very helpful and attentive all throughout (for example, they were happy to wash our baby's bottles every day).

The food was nice, and they have some really amazing soups, though (pumpkin and beef), as well as a very tasty mushroom risotto. While the buffet menu wasn't great for our tastes, the buffet staff was really accommodating and happy to make some minor modifications for us, and we had a really nice time.

Though they describe themselves as a conference-oriented hotel, we felt completely at home as a lone family, and felt really cared for all throughout our stay.

The hotel also has a nice spa facility and a pool, which we really enjoyed. There's nothing more relaxing than going for a swim after a long walk through nature.

Be warned that Trakošćan as a place really has nothing else to see except the castle and the lake; it's not even a village to have a few houses. However, those two are really so beautiful, and the hotel provides such good value for money, that it would be a pity to skip this place just because of that.

All the corona regulations were followed well, with sanitizer available everywhere, crowd limits and special rules at the restaurant and the spa, etc, so we felt really safe in that regard, yet not inconvenienced at all.

We would love to visit again in winter sometime to see the beautiful landscape covered in snow.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this hotel, particularly impressed with the kitchen. I would highly recommend opting for the half board, which includes both dinner and breakfast. Additionally, if you're interested, you can take a leisurely 30-minute walk to the castle. Great with kids

We stayed 2 nights with our 2 small kids for Easter weekend. Our package had dinner and breakfast and the use of pool and sauna. The room was comfy and the view of castle Trakošćan is breathtaking. The food was very good, wide selection of dishes. Kids liked the small playroom and organized kid's activities (they even had Easter egg hunt). The swimming pool is rather small but you need to book a time slot so it is not crowded. There was a chocolate bunny as a small gift in the room too. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and hope to return with our kids again.

Perfect “active-relax” destination. We were guests from 10-12.1.2025 during Cuba style weekend event. There were lots of activities to do (rum tasting, cocktails makeing & taste workshop, coffe coloring, yoga, aqua fitness…) which were perfectly handeled by Tomislav & Gorana! Cubismo band had great concert were we really had fun dancing, singing and drinking. Many thanks to miss Janja who was our waiter and who took good care of us 😊
HT team - see u soon! (Room 136)

I stayed here for two nights with my husband, and we loved it! The staff is very polite and helpful, the check-in process took 2 minutes.
The room is very big, and comfortable and very clean. Be sure to ask for a room with view of the castle and a balcony, the view is spectacular!
We had buffet style breakfast, which was very tasty and there's enough variety. A la cart dinner, everything very tasty. Kuhani strukli are awesome, ordered them twice.. They offer picnic baskets for 75kn/10eur. There are four menus to choose, we had the vegetarian menu and it was great. Mushroom risotto, veggie burgers and the most delicious poppy and cherry strudel ever! It's a great option to have a picnic with a view of the castle!
Wellness was great, panoramic sauna is a must. Unfortunately due to covid some parts of the wellness are closed, but that just gives us another reason to return.

It was a little bit disappointing.
Beds were not made, bathroom not cleaned, fresh fruit or fresh juices not available at breakfast. Disgusting carpeting.
But nice Area close the marvelous Castle Trakoscan and beautiful nature all around.

Perfect location if you want to visit the majestic castle and the beautiful lake, they are just about 5 minutes walking, and from certain rooms or the restaurant terrace you'll be able to see it. The price is very-very low for the rooms, while the exterior and the interior is OK, most of the staff is nice, they really care about COVID precautions. The only downside is the slowness of the alacarte restaurant service in the evening. It took us 25 minutes just to be able to order and 90 minutes to get our food counting from when we sat down. The waiters are clearly overworked, there are simply too few of them. Eat elsewhere or start you dinner before you start to feel hunger.
