This restaurant had the best kept secret. All their dishes were phenomenal but my favourite was the best sweet and sour pork I have had in my 7years of living in China. The staff were friendly and even the lemon tea came in the most beautiful kettle and tasted like heaven. What a pleasant place, gorgeous, well kept and excellent service. I will go back there everytime I am in the area and highly recomment you go there when you are in the area! Loved everything about it ♡♡♡

A fascinating hotel and restaurant. A bit off from the main roads, silent and private. The inside is like a dream - more a private monastery than a hotel, but with all the amenities. Staff speak good English. The food at the restaurant was the best I got in China during all my stay.

Secret Garden Boutique Hotel is nestled in a quiet village, 5 minutes walk to Yulong He river in the beautiful rural Yangshou area and only 90 minutes taxi ride from Guilin North Station. Take bamboo raft on the Yulong river or bicycle ride over to Baisha. English and Chinese is spoken and the comprehensive menu suits both local and international flavours (good kids’ menu with pancakes, spaghetti, pizza, toast etc.) Secret Garden Boutique Hotel was recommended to me by a friend who had stayed twice already and considered this place a gem; I’m inclined to agree! We stayed 5 very pleasant nights, rooms good size, impressive traditional courtyard layout; good impressions & photos.

We had a stopover at this beautiful charming hotel and restaurant while cruising the area with our rented tuktuk. We had lunch and were in awe of the beautiful old style buildings and cosy courtyards. The food and service was great.

An absolute gem of a spot - what a treat to find this charming hotel to rest our tired bodies after fabulous cycling trip with Bike Asia and Bikeaways in the Yulong River valley. The staff were incredibly friendly, food amazing and the bedroom was really comfortable - absolutely no need for the spare pillow cases I had brought from home !!! We hope to go back there someday ....

We had two suites at The Secret Garden in September, as we stepped into the hotel grounds we were met with a very warm welcome from the staff who spoke very good English. The hotel consists of various buildings which have been renovated beautifully in order to keep their historic character. As we entered our suite we had a lounge area with mini bar, etc, large bedroom area with hard but comfortable bed, and a further area which had separate toilet and shower rooms. Bedroom has ac unit and bathroom area had a free standing ac unit. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice available. Staff were very helpful, we all really enjoyed our stay at The Secret Garden which is in a beautiful location not far from the Yulong River.

I stayed here while touring China with my son. The property is an old but very nicely restored inn. Totally charming. We loved the place, the staff, the restaurant. But most of all we loved how the staff took care of all our needs, arranging everything we did in the area. They made it easy and wonderful.

we spent 3 nights here and loved it. The hotel is housed in restored Qing dynasty buildings that have lots of character and are very comfortable. The hotel is in a small village about 20 min. drive from downtown Yangshuo, not far from the river but outside of the restricted area. It's very peaceful but with a couple of restaurants nearby and a small shop selling snacks next door. The staff spoke excellent English which was helpful and there is an on-site restaurant. The receptionist was very helpful assisting us to arrange bikes one day and if we had wanted could also arrange an e-scooter and tickets for shows and activities. There are no taxis there so the hotel called a car for us when we wanted to go out one evening and then for the trip back, we got a car via Didi (similar to Uber) but they wanted to charge an additional RMB20 due to the hotel being out of the way.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. It sounds like you made the most of our countryside location. A pity the Didi driver didn't stick to the system fare as this should always be honoured. We hope that did not ruin your experience and that you enjoy the rest of your travels in China.

The Secret Garden is a lovely countryside inn built into the karsts with amazing food and service. It was a little hard to find 15 minutes from the bustle of Yangshuo, which made it even more quaint, but once inside, Faye and her staff created a uniquely hospitable experience. Not only was the food the best we experienced ANYWHERE in our travels around China, but the service was wonderful, the room clean and comfortable, and the concern for our comfort unusually engaged. We stayed 4 days, rode bicycles around the area, saw cormorant birds fishing, witnessed the extraordinary light show on the Li River, climbed Moon Hill, and ate great food (said that already!). We are middle aged travelers from the US and there were no language barriers whatsoever. To top it off, when we left to visit the rice paddies of Longji, Faye insisted that the hotel's driver take us there, stay the night, and deliver us to the airport in time for our flight to Beijing. That was extraordinary hospitality.

Our guide, Jack recommended this place for lunch. While the food is average, the place and the atmosphere made up for it. It is in a quaint and authentic old town set in a good feng shui area. We were told the owner is a South African who refurbished the place into a boutique hotel.

Thank you for the kind comments about the atmosphere. We know Jack well and will ask him why you thought the food is only average. That is disappointing for us, and something we must work on.
