This is an Ikea-style hotel; efficient, cheap, chearful and clean. There can't be many better places I suspect in a town like this. No complaints at all. Having said that, this town is totally avoidable. Atmosphere and architecture is sad, somewhat ugly even (and taxi drivers a bit aggressive), and the Fort and "great wall" are seriously overrated as sights, in my humble opinion. If you determined nevertheless to see the end of the road for Han China, try and arrive in the morning and get out by evening. Places like Dunhuang (west) and Zhangye (east) are much more worth spending your evenings in.
Simple but adequate rooms with all necessary equipment - clean bedding, wifi, jug, some English channels, hairdryer, ac & plenty of hot water in the shower. Rooms were serviced daily. Front desk was efficient with one woman who spoke some English. Breakfast buffet was tasty & the in-house restaurant food was good. Easy walking distance to restaurants & shops. There was a really good hot pot restaurant just 100 metres around the corner. Looks a bit of a dive from the outside but clean on the inside. We organised our tours with the taxi driver who picked us up from the train station.
Super comfortable bed was incredible after sleeping on stone beds for the past week. The shower had great water pressure with plenty of hot water. The table and chairs in the outer room was great. We also liked that there was a desk chair and another sitting chair in the room. The housekeeping staff were excellent. The front desk staff were helpful even though no one spoke English. Translation App was very helpful. The hotel was hard to find because I used the map on Tripadvisor's booking site. It is wrong. We arrived at Jiayuguan Nan and after leaving the station, walked across the street and caught Bus 1 (1RMB). We rode on it until it crossed Lanxin East Road. We walked back to Lanxin Road and turned left. The hotel is just past the construction site on the right (about a 10 minute walk). The map told us to take a right on Lanxin East Road from the bus and that is wrong. I also want to mention that we ate at a noodle restaurant in the same building as the hotel. I put a picture of the "family recipe" on this review. It is a huge bowl of hand-made noodles, vegetables, tofu and some kind of meat for 15RMB.…
We only stayed 1 night in this hotel but felt so good to find a very clean hotel to stay in at a reasonable price!!! It's definitely good value for money. The hotel is located 10-15 min by foot to the night market where you experienced local atmosphere and great food. Plus the staff of the hotel is really nice and very helpful. They did not speak English but we managed to communicate via apps/baidu/google translate And It worked pretty well. The pictures of the hotel are the exact reality of what you will find! So no need to add more! I definitely recommend this place for a clean and comfortable night!
Kudos to all the staff members here. They are super friendly and very eager to assist in all matters, whether about hotel services, sightseeing attractions, city's public transportation services, nearby food/restaurant recommendations, etc. All of these despite the huge language gap. They know very little English and I know very little Chinese, but Google Translate saved the day (remember to download the database for off-line use before leaving home -- Google is not accessible in China). The room has an electric kettle, which makes is super convenient to make hot drinks (or even hot instant noodles or rice congee) in the comfort of your own room. This is quite standard for all hotels I have stayed at in China, but it's worth mentioning because it's not something I usually find in other countries.…
