I didn't book but managed to get a single room for 200 yuan (approx £20) after my trip to the Huangshan mountains. The room was clean and simply furnished but thankfully had an air-con which was very appreciated in the heat! My room didn't have a window but this served to my advantage as I wasn't woken up by the...

Atmospheric, clean, good prices, friendly, 4-5 storey, tourist hotel built in the white/black Anhui "style." Rooms are furnished with local-style furniture. Bathrooms well supplied and sanitary. Located right at the head of Old Street, which stays open until 10-ish. The better restaurants, with locally made baijiu and rice wine, are at the far end of the Old Street, which forces...

We stayed here one night, and it was well placed for Old Street. The Room stunk of smoke, but that’s not unusual for China. Maybe better to stay next door at the Tunxi Lodge, if you can get a good rate.

We really liked this place; Rooms are somewhat basic but large and very clean, Sat TV, good internet, plenty of hot water, good bed, windows you can open (though on street if that bothers you, it didn't bother us).The staff all spoke some english (some quite well) and were very helpful. Location is close to everything.Lobby and courtyard are very...

My parents, boyfriend, and I only stayed here for one night, but we had a great experience. The hotel is very charming because of the traditional Chinese architecture and decorations. As soon as we arrived we were upgraded to some suites that were extremely nice for no charge, maybe because no one else had reserved them? Very traditional decor and...

We stayed at this hotel on two separate nights before and after staying at Mt Huangshan.  On our travels to Huangshan we realized how difficult it was not being able to speak mandarin, and how unhelpful some people could be (!), so having very helpful english speaking staff at Old St Hotel made this a very appealing place to come...

Nice little Hotel right next to the west entrance of Lao Jie ( Old Street). Tunxi makes a convenient base if you are visiting Huangshan or the Huizhou villages. Staff are very helpfull & speak a bit of English. We booked 2 of the larger suites as they had a separate bedroom & views overlooking the river. RMB 400 per...

Tunxi (Huangshan City) is the major stopping off point for most trips to Huangshan (Yellow Mountain), and the Old Street Hotel is right at the end of Old Street, a nice pedestrian area with little shops of every kind (well there are bikes, as there are everywhere there, but no cars at least). The staff was very nice, notably Angela,...

We walked up without a reservation and got a pretty decent price at this place. We needed a place to stay before heading the Huangshan by bus the next morning. This hotel was a good option, because it is in a great location so we could really enjoy our overnight, even though we were only in Tunxi for as a...

If you are intending to go to Huangshan on your own, then it is likely you will stay one night at Tunxi before/after your visit. The Old Street Hotel is an option for your overnight stay and here are my pros and cons: Pros: 1) The hotel is ideally located at one end of Old Street, a tourist attraction at...

“I looked at several rooms and none offered any type of "good view." From my room on the fifth floor (#502?) you could see over some buildings to the river--ask for a river-view room. It was a quiet room with little street noise.”
