Like each of the hotels we stayed over our week in China, the Huashan Huiyan Hotel is attractive at a superficial level but unappealing below the surface. Read on for details. Booked into this hotel by our China-based travel company, the Huashan Huiyan Hotel is cold. Everywhere. The lobby, the hotel room and the breakfast dining area where you'd think everyone was dressed to go outside. The internet, even accepting limited access in China, was unreliable. The beds were like a board covered with a thin pad. The water pressure completely disappeared during our showers and, for mine, the hot water as well: a cold shower trickle in a cold bathroom were not on my agenda. The buffet breakfast was okay. Returning to the states, I spent a night at an $85/night Comfort Inn in a remote/small California town; it felt like heaven. The Huashan Huiyan Hotel, not so much.

you get the most benefit if you book via Ctrip.com. we were presented with a box of biscuits upon checking in.setback! foreign credit cards not accepted.make sure you have enough cash.this hotel is right at the exit of the Tunxi Old Street.it is just RMB10 taxi ride to the main bus station.you can get to many places from that bus station eg Huangshan, JiuHuashan etc.The room was okay except for those in C area which were rather old and water pressure was low.the luggage room was locked for security.the buffet was good for the price you pay for the room.dinner at the same restaurant was awesome.reasonable price Hui food.give it a try!the mini market in this hotel offers goods at reasonable price too.

We were lucky enough to stay in such a classic hotel in Huangshan. We overlooked the little bridge that was the direct link across the river for day to day traffic. The room was monstrous and had a large sitting area attached with fridge and safe was great. Across the road was an ancient street that sold all sort of odd things. We spents hours just looking, shopping and eating here. The breakfast was very chinese although we didnt starve. There were noodles eggs and corn :) We only stayed 2 days and one night and I wish we had of stayed another night I loved seeing the real China at its best.

On the plus side, the rooms were big. Beds were comfortable. We felt safe. But furnishing, hallway, bathroom fixtures were old, stained, and broken. Shower in our first room drained very slowly. Unpleasant to stand in water ankle deep at the end of your shower and next person has to wait till water drains. No staff spoke English so you better not have special needs, like needing money exchange, make a phone call, or use the printer in their business centre. Breakfast buffet was stale, everyday. How did they do that?

We stayed in severa l good hotels in China booked for us by our travel agent here in Australia. Like most of the other reviews we used this hotel for a one night stop in order to travel to Yellow Mountain. This hotel was the worst we have ever stayed in! The room was dark and NOT clean, the sheets on the very hard bed were torn and looked like they required another good wash in hot water. You could practically see through the thread bare towels which also did not look clean. The air conditioning in the room was not working, there were hairs on the bathroom floor, altogether an unpleasant night. The unfriendly staff were not concerned about the comfort of the guests. Breakfast was completely Chinese and did not look appetising, all I wanted was a piece of fruit! There is a computer and free internet in each room. There are several other hotels in the town that look much better, including the Youth Hostel which we inspected.

Except for the toilet and bed sheets, the room has dirt in all edges and corners of floor and table tops. Table lamp falling off, and dirty shades. Even the hot water was irrational, water toggling between real hot and cold water as you take bath. Road noise high(even on 7th flr).

We stayed at the Hua Shan Hotel before and after a trip to Huang Shan (Yellow Mountain) as it was the hotel suggested by our tour guide. It was OK for the purpose. The lobby was large and attractive. The rooms were nice, but the carpet was stained and the sink was cracked. In our first room, we had a strong smoke smell (in a non-smoking room) and had problems with the water pressure and temperature. The second stay was better, but the water pressure and temperature again was a bit of a problem. A few of the staff spoke some English. We had a simple meal in the restaurant which was OK. Breakfast, while advertised as Oriental and Western, offered few western choices. They did have an egg station, but the chef made only eggs over very-easy, regardless of requested style. They also had bread/toast with jam. The location across the street from the Tunxi Ancient Street and the river was nice. Also, the hotel stored our luggage for free during our visit to Huang Shan. They offered storage of valuables behind the counter and storage of normal luggage in a secure room. Storage is essential as the mountain involves many steps and a long walk to the hotel, even after the cable car ride to the top. It is best to take only a backpack or light tote bag with the essentials for your stay on the mountain.

We spent two nights at the Huanshan Hotel. One before we went up to the Yellow (Huangshan) Mountains and one after we came back down. The room was some what drab and a bit worn, when we got off the elevator on our floor there was a couple of old sheets on the hall floor do to recent leak in the roof. The hall was dark and a bit musty not your typical 4 star establishment except for the fancy lobby. The rooms were clean and the beds were standard rock hard Chinese mattresses, price is low and location is very good. Had a view over the river and the location right across from the entrance to Tunxi Ancient town entrance was very handy. The heat didn't come on till around 7 at night....common practice in this provence which made for rather uncomfortable reading or relaxing outside of the warmth of bed. The staff mostly didn't speak English but were very friendly and there was usually one person at the desk who figured out what we wanted. The business center was very helpful and the computer time was quite cheap. The business center as well as the Lobby and restaurant were always really COLD. The restaurant was very inexpensive for dinner no one spoke English and it was pretty much just order by pointing and hope for the best. The food was hot, cheap and not to bad. Breakfast was pretty much Chinese fare with some ability to almost toast bread and they did have someone fixing omelets if you ate after 8 am. I guess the location was it's best feature.
