We did not have the opportunity to stay at this hotel, but would have loved to. We had lunch at this location and dinner at their sister hotel in Tangkoushen at the base of the Yellow Mountains Both hotels are very trendy and have great atmosphere. We had wonderful meals and great service. Would highly recommend for those looking for a cool/trendy environment
Anhui architecture has been unique in tradition & one will perhaps draw reference to the blockbuster, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (臥虎藏龍) . More importantly, Chengkan is the last remaining township in today's China that was built according to the Bagua (eight trigrams) some 300 years ago. This Boutique Hotel is refurnished from an UNESCO historical building at the entrance of the ChengKanCun. Hence the setting is surreal with a traditional Chinese lotus Pond at its door step. Every part of the hotel was restored to its original former glory of a bygone era with attention to every small details, like the Urns & Tea Rooms. The service is tiptop & very attentive, & they serve authentic Anhui cuisine for both Lunch & Dinner.
If you are looking for a vacation hotel, this is the one! It has all the elements for staying in a nice place without going anywhere: beautiful hotel, serene surrounding, great food, wonderful service, nice hot tub, history, culture, and lovely rain! Although the Cheng Kan village is a famous tour spot that attracted my attention, as soon as I went in the hotel entrance, I did not want to move myself outside of it at all. Everything was perfect, the environment, the weather (guess what, I checked the weather forecast and made reservation on the rainy days which was a totally smart idea!), the room, every angle of view around the hotel... I would suggest you to choose the only room with the hot tub. It worths all your money for it. I was lucky to be upgraded to that room. I cannot say too much about how lovely the hotel was and you just need to pick a date to relax.…
Great place to base yourself if you are driving in the Huangshan region. Set on a lake across from Chengkan Ancient Village, it is a great place to chill after a long day. Don't expect excitement here, but just peaceful nights, and relaxing days. Rooms are comfortable, and
Su House as its called in English, is a fantastic authentic Yellow Mountain mansion, which must have belong to a wealthy family within the community. The house/ houses are beautifully renovated and are located within the historical old town of Chengkan senic spot. Su house is located right at the village lake and gives a beautiful view over the lake, village and mountains. It is very quiet and peaceful and lets one enjoy historic China without the crowds. It is a great spot for relaxation. The room we had, was very nice, spacious, with a lovely bathroom and thoughtful amenities. The balcony was facing the lake and we enjoyed the view a lot. The facilities in general are fine, but one would expect more at a rate of USD350. A DVD player with a collection to choose from would had been nice, as well as a luggage rack and more hangers for stays longer than one night. The breakfast was included in the room rate. It was freshly cooked, but unfortunately a bit limited in selection - certainly all Chinese, no western, but that wasn't expected. It is a nice place to stay in Huangshan, but more than one night is not necessary. Staff in general was nice, but rather shy; everything had to be requested instead of staff thinking ahead. To reach this hotel, better arrive with your own car.…
