The Arena Leme Hotel has been the perfect place to enjoy the magic of Rio. The team at the hotel is lovely, so kind and helpful. Arquimedes always greets us at breakfast with a big smile. Elisabeth has found solutions for out of the box requests. The cleaning crew, always friendly and helpful. The reception too. We loved it so much that when we decided to extend our stay in Rio, we came straight back to the Arena Leme hotel. Breakfast is delish and super complete. Elevators are fast. Rooms have a beauiful view to the ocean. It reminds me of what a good hotel experience should be.
We had a lovely stay at the arena Leme for a week end of April, the staff were very friendly, breakfast was copious and tasty and the hotel is in a great location. The room was very comfortable and quiet.
Arena leme is an excellent hotel located perfectly on the beach with excellent views. It is within minutes to all touristic areas in Copacabana. Staff is courteous, breakfast is delicious, rooms are always clean and spacious. Highly recommended 👌.
Stayed here for 6 nights just before Easter. The hotel itself is well situated – right on the beach, within walking distance of several restaurants and bars and a short cab ride from all the attractions (eg Christ The Redeemer, Sugar Loaf, Botanical Gardens, Selarano Steps etc). We had originally booked two rooms (2 adults and 2 children), but as one of our party could not come (due to catching covid) leaving only 2 adults and 1 child, we changed to one room a few days before our arrival. However apart from the room being really small and having no real storage (one small wardrobe between the three of us with only 6 hangers – ie 2 each and no drawers at all) we also had a few issues – the air conditioning didn’t work properly, two of the plug sockets did not work, one of the USB sockets did not work, the hand shower did not work etc – so we asked to be moved back into two rooms, which, they did arrange quite swiftly. The two rooms we were given were interconnecting (which was handy) but have to say they were again quite small and basic (along the lines of a Travel Lodge or Premiere Inn – not quite what one would expect from a 4 star hotel). Storage, again, was very limited - there was, again, just one wardrobe in each room with no drawers at all (so we had to keep most of our things in the suitcase as there was literally nowhere to put anything). In both rooms the hand shower did not work (the attachment to change the shower to hand shower did not work and just came off in your hand if you tried to use it – this was the same in all 3 rooms that we had, so can’t be an isolated incident). In one of the rooms the shower only had scolding hot water (nothing came out of the cold water at all) so we just shared the shower in the other room. But our main issue was that one of the rooms smelt terribly damp (it looked as though water had somehow ingressed into the skirting boards as these were bulging and blown) in addition to which the curtains in all three rooms were stained and the floors were not cleaned at all during our stay - althought the rest of room and the bathrooms were cleaned well, daily. On check out we did mention the shower and damp issues to reception – and, to be fair, they did say we should have mentioned something earlier (but, as we had already complained and moved rooms I did not really want to make a further fuss and the issues were not that major) – they did say that often the showers do run just hot but that had we mentioned it they would have been able to rectify it – with regard to the damp smell they said it was due to the rooms being empty during Covid (although we did point out that this was not the issue, the issue was the damp that had penetrated the skirtings – possibly from the bathroom – as the main area of damp was backing onto the bathroom). As mentioned, do not expect too much from the rooms here – yes we did have sea view, but there are no balconies, limited storage, rooms quite small, very basic toiletries (bear in mind that they don’t seem to use shower gel in Brazil just tiny little hand soaps, so bring some with you, or you can buy some at a chemist a few blocks away). – and don’t expect anything like bathrobes or slippers (we had the most expensive luxury plus rooms, so not sure what the other more basic rooms would be like!). The breakfast buffet had a reasonable selection – but mainly appealing to the Brazilian palate (eg lots of sweet things and cakes and pies and breads) there were no vegetables at all (so no tomatoes or mushrooms etc) and no real English items – apart from scrambled egg (not that this bothers us at all, but usually at a 4 star hotel there would be a selection of different types of food). Also, on two of the days the toaster was not working (one day the staff member told me to put a knife into the toaster to retrieve my toast …. Lucky that I am aware you need to turn a toaster off before inserting something metal!! Had they said this to a child it could have been quite dangerous!). The sun terrace does have a great view and there is a bar available for food and drinks, however the pool is very small (more like a plunge pool than anything you could swim in) so our son was a little disappointed as he usually loves swimming in the pool (plus there was quite a bit of scum floating on the water), and there are only 6 sun loungers for the whole hotel (the rest of the areas is just table and chairs). In summary the postives are: Great, friendly and attentive staff – ideal location – good views – always taxis available outside – comfortable beds – decent breakfast, so if you’re not expecting too much, then a stay here is more than adequate.…
The view and location of this hotel is really good. The neighbourhood of Leme is really nice. The breakfast was decent and service was OK. We had some issues with the air conditioning not working very well, other than that it fullfilled our needs.
It was a fantastic experience. The staff was good and the breakfast can do some justice. Bedrooms gives you some confort. Copacabana has grat places to walk around and there you can take many pictures.
We stayed here for a week and I must say its biggest appeal is the location. It is literally steps away from Leme beach, Spectacular views. I room was clean with just enough room for the essentials and a balcony which was great! Breakfast was good and hotel staff was very friendly. The power went out during us our stay and we were relocated to an upgraded room which was nice.
The Arena Leme hotel is a modern, well thought out hotel with excellent facilities. The bedrooms and beds are first class. The service by the staff is exceptional in all departments. Strict Covid procedures are in place, and the hotel is very safe. Excellent breakfast and good food in the restaurant. Hotels in Brazil tend to be very good, but the Arena Hotel is top of the class. Excellent value. The manager is very attentive and friendly.
My flight landed extremely early and the hotel had no problem letting me check-in immediately. I only speak English and the staff is bilingual making me feel comfortable in a foreign environment. Roof top is beautiful. Beach directly across the street and I felt extremely safe venturing off by myself. It's in a tourist area so there are police cars all around to make the tourist feel safe. The free breakfast was simple and tasty. I was pleasantly surprise how much of a great time I had. I highly recommend this hotel.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming into rio! Not only is the location and amenities great but the service and kindness of the people working here is amazing. I had a great time and so did my family of five, hope to see them again at the end of summer!
