Great service, comfortable and large rooms. Amazing views from the roof top bar. Great location within easy reach of everything. There is metro station (Cinelandia) with in 2 minutes which takes you straight to Ipanema Beach in the South or North to Maracana Staduim. There is also a bus stop outside which we caught everyday. Breakfast was included in the...

I've stayed at this hotel several times, both in 2009 and 2010. It's brand new, located next to the metro in the centre of Rio de Janeiro. I find that the standard, service and location of this hotel makes it a much better value than the beachfront hotels in Copacabana and Ipanema. Some of the rooms might seem kind of...

This hotel is VERY conveniently located a 5 minute taxi ride from Santos Dumont (the domestic airport), a 2 minute walk to the Cinelandia metro station, and right around the corner from Lapa with tons of wonderful samba clubs. But some of the staff are rather grumpy. We had a lot of trouble getting a response before we arrived confirming...

The Windsor Asturias is a great hotel. It was very clean, the staff spoke English and was very friendly and extremely helpful. The room was small, but it met expectations. The mini-bar prices were not very overpriced (at least for beverages), and the water pressure was amazing. We had a few problems with the water not being hot and then...

The Windsor Astuarias is a very clean hotel with everything you need from a hotel in Rio. The room was are spacious with a comfortable super king bed, jacuzzi bath, powerful shower and all importantly good aircon! The hotel staff are extremeley helpful and friendly. Minibar is reasonably priced compared to UK minibars but stay away from the R$9 cashews!!...

My husband and I stayed at the Windsor Asturias Hotel for a few days in early August 2009. We were pleased to get a very functional, comfortable room (a bit on the smaller side) at this hotel. The bed was great, they have some really nice blankets. They have good TV channel selection, but internet is expensive! The bathroom wasn't...

I chose this hotel after reading a lot of the reviews about the Copa and Ipanema hotels in Rio and doing a cost comparison. Figured I was close enough to the beaches in Centro and since it was brand new I would save $75+ a night for a better hotel and just use the subway and cabs to get around....

Hotel is located right in the old part of Rio,next to Cinelandia metro (excellent and safe means of transport) station. We stayed for 2 nights during carneval and the location was absolutely perfect, as was the hotel (only 6 months old)! There were lots of street parties, fun atmosphere and even local floats/carneval parade! High floor rooms have views over the city/port...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.

“Top floors should be less noisy (we stayed in the 20th floor), although the windows provide good insulation. Our room was very quiet. A couple of rooms in each floor are smaller than the others - room numbers ending 3 and 4, if I am not mistaken.”
