In general our experience here was ok. Myself and 3 of my friends had 2 rooms between us here during Carnival. We had originally booked other accomodations which proved to have been in a favela (slum) and thus we had to find other housing very quickly upon our arrival. We booked Praia Lido via Booking.com and called them to verify...

Arrived here by chance after a hostel booking fell through. One block from beach and complementary, nice breakfast was great. However, front desk night staff gave us the runaround trying to get a room, lying to us about availability and pricing until we finally asked to see rooms before paying. I feel they were trying to take advantage of tourists,...

Just awful. After arriving late in the evening when another hostel booking fell through, I wish I'd decided to sleep on the beach instead. We arrived at reception and were greeted by a man who looked as though he had given up on life. He wanted to charge 1300R$ but we managed to get it down to 200R$, thank Lord..for...

We stayed in a hostel for the first 4 nights in Rio. Really wanted to stay a few more days nearer the beach and by chance went into Praia Lido hotel to check the price. You will not find any hotel as cheap as this in the Copacabana area. The rooms are big with fridge, Aircon, good shower only problem...

I had the misfortune to be booked into this hotel this week, I checked out the first morning and went elsewhere. If you love mirrors you'll love it here. There's one on the ceiling, both large walls and the side wall. Everywhere you look you can see yourself about 50 times. The room was very small, smelled very musty and...

Rio's hotel prices are very expensive so it is hard to find any decent hotel with a good location to the beach and a good price. This hotel is nothing special but for the price and the location nothing else in the area compares. The best part about the hotel to me was that the staff was nice and wasn't...

After 1 horrible night spent in the Hotel Bandeirantes we were recommended the Praia Lido by some friends who had just stayed there. From the moment we arrived until the moment they took us to the airport in the hotels own taxi service it could not have been better! The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, speak good english and...

I spent a little time wandering around Rio trying to find a replacement for a booking that fell through. I came across the small entrance to the Praia Lido hotel. I went up the stairs and was impressed with how clean and pleasant the reception area was. A guy on reception showed me to a room, which looked a bit...

You get what you pay for. This is very cheap for Rio. Tired and a bit dingy. But some surprises. Nice breakfast, free internet, and a wake call that occurred. Recomend but don't expect any frills.

We had a really nice stay at the Praia Lido Hotel. The staff was friendly, it was clean, the rooms were nice and the location was just one street from the beach. We found the hotel by accident since the entrance is quite small, but once you come up the stairs the rest is really nice. Since it was low-season...

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
