Well, due to logistic issues/overbooking of hotels due to the Pope visit in Rio,my company booked this hotel for me.The time to check in in a sort of medieval reception, they escort me to the room through a medieval lift completely dirty and full of any kind of garbage. I spent around 60 seconds in the room then went back to the...

The hotel has been booked by my company so it wasn't my choice. Very central position but the main entrance is on a skunky street with trash, garbage and drunks at night. The hotel itself is a bit outdated and needs to be refreshed. I was first given a room on the lower floors I think second, with a room...

Booked for 30 Buffet lunch Saturday. We had one end of the restaurant which worked quite well and for R$36 each the selection was pretty acceptable but nothing to write home about. I was supprised that they run out of one type of beer after a very short time and for a hotel to not have baby changing facilities near...

Everythings not OK with this one. Was there for a short work trip. Rooms are too small. The overall hotel...if even you want to call it that, was dark and dingy. More like a backpacker hostel. Not to entirely fault them though, the rooms were clean. Washrooms were tidy. The entrance lobby does mislead you into thinking this property is...

I really like this hotel, has everything that I look for in a Hotel for business: Clean, quiet, good service and good breakfast. The TV is really small and the air conditioner is noisy, but not enough to bores me. I don't like Rio de Janeiro downtown, but if you have no choose, this hotel is worthy of you money.

Having arrived after a 19 hour journey I thought I would get some sleep!! Only to be woken up with doors banging and people constantly talking. Then to top that the bin wagon rolled up at 3am outside my window. So not much sleep

The hotel is well located for those, like me, travel to Rio for business. It is smack in the centre of the city and half a block from the "cinelandia" subway station. That is a plus. Also, it is a short walk to the Lapa bohemian sector with tons of bars. I have to also say that the people there...

Hotel in downtown. Localization very good. Rooms clean and tidy. Some of the rooms very small with old small TVs. Other rooms bigger and with better equipment. Week internet on some floors, last floors - no internet at all. 3rd floor above kitchen - very loudy. Lot of noice from streets. Restaurant OK. Food OK. Most of hotel staff -...

Old building with very basic rooms. If you are on business in the area for 1 night, this will do. Not more than that though.. Expensive for what you get but it's average for Rio Average breakfast too

Stay here if you want to be woken up at the crack of dawn by the staff yelling at the top of their voices at each other up and down the galleried stair cases. Also stay here if you like bad internet connections and rude receptionists. The hotel is badly in need of some refurbishment and is over-priced for what...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.
