I stayed at the Royal Rio Palace Hotel during the football world cup - it was a very pleasant escape from the manic streets and beaches of Rio. The rooftop pool and bar were definitely the crowning factor for this hotel. The staff were polite, the breakfast was good, and the rooms were clean, if not a little tired.

Just spent a night there. Hotel a block or two from the beach. At the very end of Copacabana Beach. Great pool and nice breakfast. Nothing amazing about the room, purely average. The staff at the reception are not friendly but rather rude. Good value for the money!

Ok situated hotel, rather cheap place near the Copcabana. Cleanliness is average, and not so good a restaurant. Swimming pool on top of the building, but with ony 6 sunbeds, be early if you want one. If you go for the bar in the evening, be patient! You have to ask for the waitor, barkeeper. He will come eventually.

I stayed here during a December vacation. The hotel has nice room and it's clean with free wifi. The location of the hotel is great as it is very near copacabana beach. The hotel has a lovely roof top pool area but it is too small for the amount of people who stay in the hotel. Breakfast was average and...

I can't believe all the good reviews this hotel has in trip advisor. That is one of the reasons why we chose it but I was terribly disappointed. This is not a luxury hotel by any means. The room was not clean, the a/c was very noisy and the breakfast was mediocre at best. Worse of all, while I was...

This hotel is at the north end of Copacabana district and 3 blocks away from the beach. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, but noisy. The floors are all solid marble and the walls are paper thin. Scraping chairs, conversations and TVs can be heard clearly. Despite the clean room, the 'whirlpool' bath was stained and mouldy. Expect the...

I've stayed at Royal Rio so many times I've stopped counting. It is a large hotel, with large rooms. Cleaning is a highlight. Very good breakfast. I always have a very good time at this hotel. Swimming pool and fitness center (both at the roof of the building) are particularly small, but enjoyable. Business center still have some slow and...

After searching Rio hotels for hours online it seemed like every hotel was expensive and had very variable reviews which range from “I love you reviews” to “I hate you reviews”. We selected the Royal Rio Palace on proximity to Copacabana beach, price and not too many bad reviews. So what was it like? In any other city in the...

I spent a week with my wife and my 3 years old son. It is like 2 blocks from Copacabana beach near the world known Copacabana Palace hotel. It is actually in a very safe neighborhood. Very nice breakfast. Excelent but expensive room service. Taxis you call from.mobile apps like 99taxi are very safe. You can trust on them. We...

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
