Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A beautiful hostel in Tijuca, very cozy, fun, comfortable and centric. Really close to Maracaná stadium and metro station, bars around and also supermarket, stores in a quiet neighborhood. Las instalaciones, la piscina, el personal y el desayuno, todo maravilloso.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Air conditioning in room was perfect! The kitchen was dirty, tiny and needed improvement. The bathrooms upstairs where my room was were terrible. Two of them had no soap during my 4 nights stay, the trash bins were full but were never emptied, one of the shower was clogged the entire time and another smelled so bad we couldn't use it, that bathroom was the only one that had any soap so we just went in there to get some soap.

Cool place! Not close to the beach, but close to metro station. Good facilities, swimming pool and very helpful staff. They have awesome parties there and also close town shops and restaurants. Would recommend this hostel.

The Maraca Hostel was sports-themed and it was a pretty cool/fun place to stay. I stayed in an 8-Mixed dorm and it came with lockers/locks. Location was relatively convenient in a good neighborhood. It was about a 10-12min walk to either the main Maracana transit station or the Saens Pena metro. Also has a good-sized mall about 6-8min away. Staff was friendly/helpful. Just felt there are other hostels with similar experience available for a better price.

Maraca Hostel is nice place to stay.Very good location-close to two metro lines and good supermarket for cheap food. Good breakfast. I'd say very good. All staff is friendly ,desk people are good in English. General manager Victor is nice ,intelligent, professional person,he is ready to assist people at any time. Very important -free Internet access, you can be connected with the family at any time. I booked room at this hostel, not bed.-TV,Air Cond. Refrig.,shower nice big bed. I did not stay at 4-8 bed room, but general situation is pretty good and all people I could see around was happy. I,d advise to contact Victor before booking , he is nice guy You will be happy in RIO-my first impression about RIO-nice friendly people, but a bit short in English. I'm just back from RIO-16 Olympics and still impressed how good it was organised, probably better to say-excellent.from any point.,to be honest- I was surprised.and impressed.

We had a very nice stay at the Maraca Hostel during the Olympics. My wife and I stayed in the private room. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome. The room was comfortable and met our needs. The soccer theme is a lot of fun, but I wasn't super excited about walking barefoot on the AstroTurf in the room. Breakfast is simple but good. I really wish they could've provided fresh bread rather than cheap sliced white bread, but the fruit and cake were nice. The hostel is about 10-15 minutes from the stadium and a train line. I'm not sure about room rates, everything was exorbitant during the Olympics.

We landed in Rio on Carnival week but had made reservation away ahead of time. It was easy to register for private room for 2 online - R$ 300 per day. It did not have minimum stay requirement, which made us easy to do the reservation. Staffs of the hostel seemed very pleasant, very helpful and accommodating to our situation. They were English speakers there!! (It's really hard to find anyone talking in English in Rio). Eatery places were near around. If you walked few blocks, you would find super market/mall too. They had variety of foods in food court. If you walked little further than that, you would find lots of stores and local places to eat. Plus the metro station!! Room, that I shared with my friend was neat and clean and with functioning A/C (unlike other hostels we came to know later). Bathroom's were clean. I am not sure, but maybe we had a private room, we were provided with towels too. It was big room facing the swimming pool. The first night we were there, they had samba party/or their own carnival. It was suppose to end at 10:30 pm (that's what we were told repeatedly) but ended only after 11:30 or something. Breakfast was good. Hours for breakfast was long too from 7-10 am (not exactly sure of the time) Wi-fi was working fine. Better from the balcony than from room...still it was good than some 3 star hotel. There was Tv is the room too but we did not watch it. So couldn't say anything on that. This hostel is near Maracana football stadium. All in all - This place is good to stay for short visit. Friendly and helpful staffs makes it even better!!

the rooms where comfortable! Lockers are available if you need to lock anything important when going out. The people who work here are really nice, and open to questions if you need anything, like a cab or food delivery. Bathrooms are pretty good most of times, they have mixed rooms as well as single rooms too. Breakfast is included and it's pretty nice, with foods like bread and fruits!

This hostel only a 5 minute walk from the Maracana stadium is a must for all football lovers. Excellent facillities with both a pool table and dart board to go with the pool so plenty of things to do on a lazy day and a great bbq/party offered on sundays. Lots of great bars and restaurants all around the hostel, they even have satelite TV in your room! I've stayed here on a few occasions now and will keep coming back. The staff are great and friendly as well.
