I stayed at the own Ipanema for nearly two weeks. I was on holiday from Australia and was only planning on staying a week. My travel plans were disrupted and the staff at the Own Ipanema were so helpful and accommodating. The Lads at concierge, Mauricio, Rodrigo, Marco and Eduardo were always so nice to me and helped me a number of times with things I needed a hand with. For example, I managed to lose my iPhone on this trip, the lads give me access to a computer so I could change all my banking passwords and then advised me on where to go and how to go about getting a cheap smart phone with a Brazilian SIM card. The hotel was nice but I cannot speak higher of the staff. Outstanding service.
The position is good close to the beach and restaurants area The breakfast is regular with no many choices. Both structure and forniture are too old. There are better option on the area at the same rate.
The location is god, In a safe area of ipanema. The staff is friendly and will give you tips on what to do and where not to go. The hotel is old, dirty and run down. I found 2 dirty condoms under the sofa and nobody cleaned the room for the 3 days I stayed there. I hadn’t told my Girlfriend about what sweet surprise I found in our room but I did want to tell the receptionist. After agreeing with me that this was disgraceful and unacceptable he asked me to pay for the minibar... I suggest hotel Arpoador, much cleaner, on the beach and slightly more expensive
Best part of this hotel is its location and the friendly staff. Other than that; don’t stay here. The hotel is run down, toilets don’t flush, bed sheets are dirty, breakfast is basic. Apparently the hotel has a new owner. He will need to seriously invest to bring it up to standards.
I have stayed in this hotel for 6 days, with my husband. The best one is the perfect localization. It is on a tree lined street in Ipanema, one block the beach, near the subway and several bars and restaurants. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The suite room has a good size, and it has a small living/TV room and a balcony (although the view from the balcony was not beautiful, it was to the wall of another building). The bath room is functional, with good shower and toilet. The amenities are excellent (shampoo, conditioner, soap). The bed and pillows are comfortable. There is some noise around the hotel, because neighboring buildings are under renovation. That can disrupt sleep in the morning. The breakfast is nice, but it isn’t great. It is standard for this kind of hotel. They offer chairs, sun umbrella and towels for the beach, and it is very convenient. They have a agree with a beach bar (Barraca da Ana) that we have found very good.…
