I really enjoyed staying with Elisa and Sid. I came to Rio for 2 weeks and had my own bathroom, because nobody else was there at that time. It was located next to Lapa and just 10 minutes to the metro station and Centro. They were always friendly and helpful if I got any questions. If I come back to...

Awesome place to stay, host is very welcoming and made me feel like home. Excellent location, right beside Lapa. Would definitely go there again! Gave me good tips on how to get around and being a traveller herself, interesting discussions!

We stayed here for 6 nights in February during carnival. It was by far the cheapest place we could find and is excellently located to the bars and clubs of Lapa. The hostel is located a 5 minute walk up a very steep hill just off the Lapa arches. The owners are extremely friendly and hospitable. We did however find...

The best thing about this hostel is its hospitality, which makes you feel like at home. I stayed two nights at this hostel for a short visit to Rio. I booked a single room and was given a domitary for myself only. My only complaint was that the bed was uncomfortable to sleep on and the room would get quite...

We couldnt have asked for a better hostel from which to explore Central Rio. The owners were extremely helpful throughout with tips on attractions and local facilities. The hostel was VERY clean, breakfast was great and the location couldn't be better for a night out in lapa. The hostel was quiet and laid back, which suited us perfectly. Thanks Sid...

I couldn't have asked for better hosts than Elisa and Sid. After arriving in Rio on my own and knowing very little about the city Elisa and Sid both told me everything I needed to know. They provided me with maps, gave me advice for getting to all the places I wanted to go and warned me when the weather...

I stayed here with two friends (all 22-year-old lads) during the 2014 World Cup and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Sid and Elisa are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the city - if there is something they don't know, it is not worth knowing about! The house is very, very clean and the bedrooms are...

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
