We were in Rio and stayed at the Copacabana Mar for 3 nights. It is located only 3 blocks from Copacabana Beach. Clean, smiling, professional staff. Comfortable beds, quiet room, overlooking an uninteresting courtyard, but thus protecting your sleep from the noisy streets. Excellent breakfasts. Can't speak about the sauna, fitness or pool, as I was too busy visiting Rio.

I was in Rio just 5 days before the Olympics and found this hotel for a great price. Very economical and excellent location just near the metro station and 2 blocks from the beach. Staff was very rude when I tried to bring friends to my room. They won't allow anybody to come up. Also they didn't liked that I... More

I stayed in this hotel for five nights during a work-related stay in Rio. The hotel ticks all the right boxes -- the room was clean and comfortable, there was a table suitable for working (not a desk though, and to plug in the computer, I had to unplug the minibar fridge), and the wifi in my room was reliable... Good: the hotel is very near to the beach. Is comfortable thinking in the basic service and is clean. To improve: the bathroom supplies are not renovated as they should, the wifi is sometimes not so good, at the check in they start to sell you the tours and is kind uncomfortable because all you want is get your room... We stayed here for 8 nights for olympics. This is a 3 star hotel by North American standards but is rated as 4+ stars. I am sure it has not been updated since it opened. Lobby looks quite good but rooms are bare bones but clean. We heard of other rooms with black mold but ours was fine. Breakfast was... More

I didnt have a lot of expectation as in this price range of close to U$100/night, Rio south zone(Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon) has not many nice options. But unfortunately this Hotel was even below my expectations, as the rooms & breakfast area are not inviting or pleasant, the breakfast for brazilian standards is very basic and old fashioned. Our room was... More

Stayed in this hotel 4 nights. Size of the room is decent. Stuff was very helpful. Cleaning service was ok not great. Breakfast choice was same every day, no veggies but offered fruits. There is no elctric pot that u could use in the room. But for a short stay is not too bad. Wifi was working for us everywhere.

This 4* hotel is just two blocks back from the beach behind it's more illustrious rival the Copacabana Palace Hotel (which is a useful reference point for taxi drivers who do not seem to have heard of the Copacabana Mar). The rooms are a reasonable size and the bathrooms although on the small side have decent showers. There is a... More

It’s a little melodramatic to say this is the worst hotel ever (I’m sure it isn’t), but that’s what it felt like. Honestly, the hotel itself isn’t that bad. The rooms was clean and adequately decorated, if a little drab. The lobby has wifi. The breakfast food was pretty good. There is a pool on the roof with a mountain... More

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
